The "Masters Of Reality" album is probably my favorite overall, just love the sound of that record.
Manic Frustration was where he really lost his mind, one of the worst sounding albums ever released by a major label.
I thought something was wrong with my system when I first popped in the CD!
I never bought that Trouble album, and based on both of your comments I am glad I didn't!!
I did like Rubin's work with Slayer, Red Hit Chili Peppers, and Danzig. I also liked his work with The Cult, thou those guys don't have anything nice to say about Rubin either!!

It's a shame about that Trouble album because the material is good.

I have heard far worse than Manic Frustration. It's got that 80s rock sound, which is clearly the style the band was trying to cash in on.
Not the best-sounding album, of course, but not so bad that someone shouldn't add it to their collection. Because, as you said, it's a good album.

It's a good album, the songs are good but the problem is the production which is horrid!

Really? Haven't heard the ZZ Top album myself, but I seem to remember folks here complaining about the production.
i thuoght he buzzed the heck out of ZZ Top, to the point it was hard on the ears.

The riff sounded like Sabbath to me...like the old bluesy Sabbath more than the Doomy Sabbath...

You're right. I'm trying not to be critical with such little info, but I can't help myself. "Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide". Original lyrics.

It's only one line.
And we don't want Sabbath to be original...we want them to sound like Sabbath.

I miss Dio also, but I am looking forward to the new, and I am assuming the final Black Sabbath album.

Well maybe this reunion will blow up and us few Tony Martin fans will get another album.
I'm sure the Ozzy Sabbath record will be great, but it won't be another "Devil You Know".

We all already know all the reviews are going to range from "awful/abortion" to "it's not THE BEST SABBATH ALBUM, but..".

I have a feeling it wont be as good as TDYK too, but not sure how great it will be.... that snipet has me interested - it sounds like old Ozzy era Sabbath.... but something is missing in the music..... o yeah, that would be Bill Ward!

Iommi writes very differently with Dio than Ozzy, so I wouldn't expect it to be in any way comparable with "The Devil You Know".

I certainly hope it's better than that turgid borefest The Devil You Know. Ugh. That album was as exciting as watching paint dry.
I am expecting the worst but hoping for the best on this.

Good point. I prefer the DIO Sabbath albums because they are much darker than the Ozzy albums, even if they are "turgid borefests".

I love all the Dio Sabbath albums, except for TDYK. Everything on it was terribly SLOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW.

Interesting, most people I know liked it. I think there are a some really good tracks (Bible Black, Rock & Roll Angel, Neverwhere, Follow The Tears) and also a few more that are "okay" but aren't that exciting. The album could have used a couple more uptempo tunes, but overall I did enjoy the record and was happy to get at least one more collaboration with Dio.

I understand. Just f*cking with you. I've just never heard anyone say that before. I was damning that album until it came out and I was personally blown away by it. But I like slower doomy stuff more than up-tempo diddies.

I was worried about how it would sound, but was also blown away by it. Still love it and listen to it \m/
