You're forgetting that it was BILL'S MANAGEMENT that asked the Sabbath camp to remove Bill from the photos on their website...
I wasn't aware of that. Even still, I could see someone in the Sabbath camp saying "Fine. He doesn't want to be on the website? Blur his image in the video. F him".
Lest we forget, this is a person that had the drums and bass re-recorded on classic albums out of pure dickery. I wouldn't put anything past 'em.

Dude, if I was in a band and paying his rates, the motherf*cker would not be lounging in a bed, mouth-farting ideas from the other room. I don't think so.

I'm no fan of Rubin but I don't think it's that off the wall for him to be "lounging" while he listens to takes being recorded.
He's not the engineer so he doesn't have to be in the control room.
He's not going to be in the same room with band (or the vocal booth) while they are cutting tracks for obvious reasons.
He's just in another room with monitors and a microphone so he can communicate. Yeah, he looks pretty silly laying on a cot but whatever floats your boat I guess.
I've seen producers ride exercise bikes during recording sessions before...

It was actually pretty hilarious watching him roll around on the bed. He looks like a little kid. All he needs is some feety pajamas and he's all set. Already got the just woke up look going. haha

I agree w/ S.D. in that it's not really that off the wall. His job is to be a producer..."do it again", "try this", "try it like that"...he listens and directs. Where he chooses to do that from is completely up to him...

Rubin did a great job on the last ZZ Top album, so why not Sabbath? I'm looking forward to it.

Really? Haven't heard the ZZ Top album myself, but I seem to remember folks here complaining about the production.

I don't know if this has been posted already and I don't feel like skimming through 7 pages of pissin' & moanin' about Bill's non-involvement or Rick's poor production skills.
The new album, 13, is set for release on June 10th.
13 will be available as a standard CD, deluxe double-CD with bonus audio material, and 12-inch heavyweight vinyl in gatefold sleeve. The super-deluxe box set contains a documentary DVD, behind-the-scenes video, a track-by-track interview download, exclusive art print, photos and hand-written album lyrics.

I was hopin 13 would be merely an interim title
With another "major" band releasing an album of the same title quite recently, it shows (IMHDO) a very, very major lack of originality and poor decision making (again) by those making decisions in and for the band.

Yea, I posted an interview with Geezer that hinted that "13" was just a working title. Guess they're going with it. Oh well. Could've been worse I suppose.
It's supposedly shortened from the original working title...Sharon Osbourne Presents:13 Ways We're F**king Bill Ward.

They could have called it "Bukkake Tsunami" (to steal from MG) and I wouldn't care. At the end of the day it's about the quality of the music and nothing else. As long as they auto-tuned Ozzy's grunts and garbles just right, it should be a satisfying album.

Not without my permission they can't. I have that title trade marked. You owe me $50 just for typing that.

I'm expecting the worst and hoping for the best. The stars are all aligned against them though - no Bill, Rubin the hack producer, Ozzy can't sing, Sharon lurking in the woodpile like the roach she is, a lame album title, etc...
Hopefully this will be like the new Van Halen where I expected it to suck and I was amazed at how good it was.

I guess I feel the same way. I can't complain too much about production issues, so that's off the table. As far as the rest, I'll go in with low expectations and hopefully be plesantly surprised. I can't imagine that it will be a complete turd of an album, but it's sure got it's work cut out to be better than The Devil You Know.

Hopefully it's good, despite Rubin. I like albums that he has produced, but I have never been a fan of the sonics of the albums he has produced.

I liked his earlier production sound (late 80s/early 90s) on albums like The Cult's Electric, the Masters Of Reality debut, the self-titled Trouble album, Danzig's debut, Reign In Blood & South Of Heaven, etc. Of course that can be attributed more to the recording engineer than him per se. But his stuff has just sounded odd since the late 90s to now.

I think it worked for those Slayer albums band Trouble's S/T album. Don't even get me started on the production of Manic Frustration........

The "Masters Of Reality" album is probably my favorite overall, just love the sound of that record.
Manic Frustration was where he really lost his mind, one of the worst sounding albums ever released by a major label.

I thought something was wrong with my system when I first popped in the CD!
