A dude told you that he was gonna download YOUR album for free? Do these illegal downloaders realize what they're doing?
As for Monster, I'm really liking it now after listening about 5 times. I first I didn't like "Freak", but it's grown on me. I think my fave Paul track is "Shout Mercy." Really digging that tune. I like "Take Me Down Below' a lot too. I like the trading off of vocals between Paul and Gene and the chorus sticks in my head.
I also think Eric and Tommy this time were more "comfortable" being in the Catman and Spacman characters.

I've always contended the record industry's focus on singles and not albums is what ultimately dooms them. They conditioned the public to only care about "hits". Then when they can just download that one song why are they going to buy a whole album. I know more than a few people who think it is really weird that my ipod is filled with albums and not just random playlist of only songs I like. It's completely mystifying to them that I might actually like and listen to a whole album. . Seems to be the state of things right now. I've seen that too. People only care about hits.
In fact, I received a PM from someone who asked about the new Ultimatum songs and said they weren't buying the CD but were going to wait until they could just download it for free. When I replied that he could pay to download them on Amazon and that downloading them for free was stealing, the reply back was, "How do you figure that?" Hmmm...are people really that oblivious? yep. The 'get it for free' mentality is rampant all over the place. _________________

| I'll admit, I downloaded a lot of music from Limewire before it got shut down and uploaded most of it onto my iPod. But most of those songs were from artists whose albums were either hard to find or too expensive, like 220 Volt, and Youtube hadn't quite come along yet, so that was pretty much the only way I could listen to most of the music I wanted to hear.
There are some albums which have a few good songs and a whole bunch of mediocre or bad songs(I.E. Metallica's Load and Reload) and in that case it's good to be able to pick out the good songs from the bad.

Yep, agree. I thought it was pretty lame lyrics. Paul can come up with better sexual innuendos that a slightly more vulgar version of "Love In An Elevator". Hmmmm - maybe we know we know why Tyler is pissed at KISS???? - Fat Freddy wrote:

Yeah, not nearly as some of Gene's lyrics of past such as "Oh babe, i wanna put my log in your fireplace" and "You're bent over baby and let me be the driver" from Burn Bitch Burn or "Cause when I go through her, it's like a hot knife through butter" from "Fits Like A Glove"

Yeah Kiss may write some immature lyrics at times, but the songs are so dman catchy that I really couldn't care less. "You Make Me Rock Hard" is also pretty juvenile lyrically.

| I love KISS, but nobody is going to mistake KISS's resident poet laureate's Sir Simmons and Sir Stanley with such distinguised men of letters such as TS Elliot or Dylan Thomas. | |

| "Get up and get your Grandma outta here" is quite possibly the best opening line for a song in history.

It is a great line! As Manny said, they aren't America's top poets and no one would ever think that. Some of the lyrics just seem lame to me these from KISS. I find "Put your hand in my pocket and grab on to my rocket, feels so good to see you Lucille" seems to work much better than "I'll take you on a cruise you'll never forget She said, "we better move 'cause I'm already wet"" Heck, maybe the lyrics just work better when a 25 year old Paul Stanley sings them as opposed to a 62 year old Paul Stanley. Sort of like a 20 something Gene singing Christeen Sixteen in the 70's wasn't creepy, but a 60 something year old Simmons singing it sounds like he's a pedophile.

Conversely, the line "I'm ninety-three, you're sixteen" from "Goin' Blind" makes more and more sense as Gene gets older. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I expect, no demand, my Kiss records have those cringe-inducing type lyrics. To me it's part of the charm/fun. Monster delivers many such moments. One of the many reasons I love it. | |

Man, that is a great quote and I agree with you 100%. It's quintessential KISS. Like Room Service or Love 'em Leave 'em (one of my all time favorite Gene songs). If you're a fan of the band, how can you not expect and not enjoy the lyrics. Take Me Down Below is one of my favorite songs on the album, a classic KISS "love" story.

| Hey, KISS fans - do you have enough stupid KISS junk yet? If not, check out what I just saw at the local Walgreens: A set of 4 KISS Pez Dispensers in a way-cool tin collector's box. No, I didn't buy one (though I was sorely tempted!)... so hey, anybody who hooks me up with one of these for Christmas will automatically vault to the top of the Cool Mo-Fo List. | "Right Here Right Now" is one of the best songs from the album. Shame it's an iTunes exclusive.
Took me awhile to get into this album fully but I'm really diggin' it now. More consistent than Sonic Boom but doesn't match Sonic Boom's best songs, if that makes sense. Still good though.
