I like it. But I want to hear the whole album first, hopefully they'll have a stream up or put it on Spotify first. I didn't care for the last one.

The last album didn't do anything for me either. I honestly can't remember anything about it. It would sound okay while it was playing but then vanish the instant the record finished.

This tune is already more memorable than anything on Formation.

That's so good! Not groundbreaking or trend-setting by any means, but the song is pure unadulterated THRASH! I love it.

Yeah, 'Formation' was sub-par Testament..I think was even worse than Demonic

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike your music at all, but it surely isn't ground-breaking. You're traveling the same well-worn path that countless other bands traveled. Why does that have to matter so much? Why can't it just be good music. If everyone judged your music by the same criteria you judge music, no one would like your band.

Do you think your band is doing things other bands haven't done, then?

I was wondering when someone was finally going to say this. I've got nothing against ToB, but I will say, before I joined the board, I read every single page of the board (not every thread, though). It didn't take me long to see "I didn't care for it" was a recurring theme from ToB. I thought to myself, "man, this guy doesn't like much of ANYTHING. If this dude's that picky, his band must be awesome!" I gave everything I could find on YouTube a listen, and thought it was pretty "meh", kinda generic. In other words, "I didn't care for it".

God love ya, ToB. Everyone's entitled to their opinion.

Demonic, aside from "Hatreds Rise," wasn't very memorable. I think it's probably on par with Formation. Not bad, not great.

Yeah, but said it in a far less douchey manner than you did. =) And I think you should probably read ToB's answer, if you haven't already. I didn't ask that question to be insulting or anything, I just wanted to understand ToB a bit better. And now I do.

Eh, I'm just having some fun with the guy. He seems like he's got fairly thick skin. Like I said, I've got nothing against him. He's just another character that makes this board interesting. Besides, anybody who digs Glen Alvelais is cool in my book.

I have to plead guilty to misunderstanding TOB for a long time and I also admit I was rather snide and flippant in some of my responses to his posts. I feel truly bad about that, because over the past year I've really grown to appreciate his opinion (even if I don't always agree) and I think he's a valuable and very knowledgeable member of the board.

The internet is still a very tricky vehicle for conversation, it's so easy to misconstrue intent.

re: the new Testament, I am looking forward to hearing more from this album, the last record I really enjoyed was The Gathering.

ToB just speaks his mind & doesn't waffle. whether i agree or disagree, i've come to enjoy his debates over the years.

that is my absolute favorite album from them. perfect mix of melodic thrash with a touch of death.

I enjoyed 'Low' a bit more because it was musically stronger, even the weaker tracks I enjoyed (still do up till now)

'Gathering' was in your face heavy and downright pounding brutal, but the weaker songs were a letdown

Both are really good albums btw and thank God the new album is far detached (at least from the sample song) from the shytfest called 'Formation of Damnation'

I love FOD, thought it was a great mix of their old sound mixed with their newer stuff.

Not the best song I've ever hard by Testament, but it's still pretty dang heavy. I like it.

Regardless of the sample, Testament is one of my top 20 bands and I will buy every album they release. BTW, I loved FoD and really don't think it's too far removed from The Gathering (except more solos).

This song sounds great. If the rest of the album sounds anything like this, it will be my third great thrash album I've purchased this year. The other two being the recent Overkill and Kreator albums. Mind you, I have the complete discography of all three bands, so my completist ways make me want to get this. I'm just glad that the sample sounds promising.
