Check out "Weapons of our Warfare". If you don't like it don't bother with the rest.

Or check out the more melodic stuff like "Learn" and "Stay of Execution" if you don't like the speed metal stuff like "Weapons" and "Deliverance". _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| Thanks all! I`ll check them out, both speed and melody sounds promising. I had a vague idea that they were more of a traditional Thrash band... This band must have focused mainly on the US market back in the day, they seem to be fairly well known over there but i can`t remember anyone ever mention them or marketing them here in Europe.... | |

This band must have focused mainly on the US market back in the day, they seem to be fairly well known over there but i can`t remember anyone ever mention them or marketing them here in Europe.... They gained a bit of success due to the Weapons of our Warfare video getting a bit of play time on Headbangers Ball back in the day. Also, Lars from Metallica picked the video as one of his favorite videos on some guest VJ thing he did on MTV. As a matter of fact, their record company tired to capitalize on that and added a 'remix' version of the song on their Stay of Execution CD, which just seemed a bit out of place. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

I never heard of them until I started snooping around Ult's site and coming here. If they focused on the US market, I certainly didn't see it in my neck of the woods. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Yes, both Deliverance and Vengeance Rising really got the shaft. They never intended to be part of this "Christian only" scene. When they signed with Intense Records back in '88, it was an independent heavy metal label with solid distribution through Enigma/Medusa. Deliverance were actually working with Metal Blade as well. Unfortunately for both bands, they signed contracts that they couldn't escape and the label sold to Frontline Records shortly after their first records were released. Instead of Enigma, and being in all the record stores, they were on Diamante Music Group, which primarily sold to Christian music and book stores. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

I would imagine that many of the Christian Metal bands from back then were a little resentful about being stuck in the "Christian Bookstore" scene when their records should have been in the Metal section at Tower... _________________ FINAL SIGN

True dat!! I've been buying heavy metal music since roughly 1987. Watched MTV and bought all the metal music rags of the day. Yet it wasn't until a few years ago when I found Ult's site and started coming here that I became aware of Christian metal genre. Outside of Stryper, I never heard, saw or read about any Christian bands. We're looking at a span of roughly 15 years that I could have been making album purchases. Especially in the hey day of places like Tower Records where blind purchases based on cool covers alone accounted for 1/2 of my collection. Not being the religious type, I would have had virtually no reason to ever go into a Christian bookstore, forget even thinking of going there for a music purchase. Talk about poor marketing. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Talk about poor marketing. That's one thing that I never understood. My first real band was a Christian band (Oracle) and we never wanted to play to the church crowd. We played clubs with other Metal bands, even though our lyrics were Christian themed. We were not of the Stryper/Barren Cross "Jesus rocks!" ilk although we were fans of those bands too. We wanted to be on Metal Blade or Roadracer....once we saw that only Christian bookstores were stocking Intense & Pure Metal releases, we wanted to avoid it...sadly, that was near the end of the band after we had gone the "Heaven's Metal" route. _________________ FINAL SIGN

| At the same time though, how many secular execs were afraid of the christian moniker? Enigma seemed willing but they didn't last long. Too bad, I found Barren Cross at Tower. | |

Talk about poor marketing. It was horrible marketing and really obnoxious cd prices. My local CBS at the time didnt even have a rock section, let alone metal but so Deliverance (and a lot of others) got classified as 'gospel' which really hurt their sales. _________________

Yes! That would be awesome. My all time favorite Deliverance album is self titled. I like most of their albums and love Weapons, but I found myself listening to self titled the most.....and I still break it out frequently after all these years!
