| Took me a few days, but on to disc 2
Rock China Town - Van Halen "Have yet to get the new VH; but this sounds pretty good. They were playing in the big city a week or so ago, but too much $ for me to pay." Beg For It - Hardcore Superstore "Good, but does not bowl me over. I will check these guys out in the future as I really like the guitar playing. The slight echo on the chorus reminds me of Helloween -I Want Out." Something Else - HeadCat "Lemmy. Heard of, but do not think I actually heard this before. Sounds like this could be a fun record." Can't Catch Me - Heaven's Edge "Pretty fast number that has late eighties all over it. Reminds me of what was being played at all the rocker bars back then. Btw, I like this" Crash Landing - Seduce "Not a bad tune, just not as strong as the rest of the comp songs." Looking Pretty, Pretty - TAB the band "Never even heard of this band before, but they seem to have a great modern rock and roll feel to them. Definately will look into them." All Systems Go - Hellenbach "This is pretty damn good. Hard to say how I would describe them, but it is great straight up hard rock." I Did U No Wrong - Steve Jones "Fire And Gasoline has been a decades long fave of mine." Nothing Better To Do - L.A. Guns " Good song. Which incarnation is this? Who is singing this?" Fly - Loudmouth "I know I have heard this before, but can't say where. O.k. I guess." Valleri - Monkees "Hmmm..." Pet Semetary - The Ramones "Yet another great tune from these guys." Lady Killer - Priestess "Canuck rock. Solid band with solid tunes." Black Country - BCC "Love this tune and the whole cd. Second disc is great too." Touch Me, I'm Sick - Mudhoney "Remember these guys from way back when. These guys and Soundgarden were my fave Sub Pop bands in the late eighties." Black Hole Sun - Peter Frampton "Trippy version speaking of Soundgarden." Burning Lights - Peter Shiflett "Mos def not Foo Fighting on this tune. Not bad for what it is. Do not mind stuff like this in small doses." More Wine Waiter Please - The Poor "Another song I swear I have heard somewhere before, like ages ago. Liked it then, like it now." Nice Boys - Rose Tattoo "Wow. Talk about a blast from the past. Angry Anderson should have replaced Bon imo." Satan's Knights - Armour "Pure cheese, but I love cheese. Great tune." Down With The Ship - Scatterbrain "I remember this. Not fondly. Little too goofy for me." Phatty Boom Batty - Electric Frankenstein "Good tune. Have not heard this band in like ten years. Great rock band." Batman - Voivod "This is my favourite Voivod era. 87 to 89." Heavy Metal - Ugly Kid Joe "Silly. As most Ugly Kid Joe is."
Another fine collection of tunes.

Rock Can't Catch Me - Heaven's Edge "Pretty fast number that has late eighties all over it. Reminds me of what was being played at all the rocker bars back then. Btw, I like this" These were local Philly guys that were "this close" to making it to the big time. A year or 2 earlier and they might have been huge. Maybe.
Looking Pretty, Pretty - TAB the band "Never even heard of this band before, but they seem to have a great modern rock and roll feel to them. Definately will look into them." Joe Perry's 2 sons Tony & Adrian's band. I only checked them out because of the Joe connection, but it turns out they're pretty good.
All Systems Go - Hellenbach "This is pretty damn good. Hard to say how I would describe them, but it is great straight up hard rock." NWOBHM from the early 80's I think they sound like Van Halen
Nothing Better To Do - L.A. Guns " Good song. Which incarnation is this? Who is singing this?" It's off of Vicious Circle and Kelly Nickles the bass player is singing.
Burning Lights - Peter Shiflett "Mos def not Foo Fighting on this tune. Not bad for what it is. Do not mind stuff like this in small doses." Chris Shiflett and yea, it's not Foo Fighters-like at all. The whole album has a bit of a country-vibe to it, sorta like when the Rolling Stones break out a lap-steel guitar every now & then. Not something I listen to often, but when I'm in the right mood
Another fine collection of tunes.
Glad you enjoyed them. As of today (05.24) I still haven't seen hide nor hair of your discs. I'll be out of the office for the next few days, hopefully they'll show up when I return. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. I'm starting to wonder if my comps might have killed chewie... lol I'm just really lagging. I did like disc one quite a lot disc two somewhat less. I'm gonna give them another listen and see if my first couple of impressions have changed...... especially since I have my car running again . My gear shift bushing blew out and I was able to fix it! | |
