I'm with you on the last half being the best. Up until then it was almost as good ad BotN but but not quite there. The last half put it over. Much more melodic and memorable than anything off BotN (which was in my top 5 of that year). At this point this is my album of the year so far (Overkill #2). Totally agree with you. There are a few great songs on the first half, but I can't get warm with Hellfire and Flash to Bang Time. Nothing memorable on these tracks. The record really kicks off a second time with Shadow Soldiers. It's a bit more like ancient Accept stuff. Not as slow, though, but with the same catchy melodies. Edit: Is it just me or is Tornillo's performance on this album even better than on the previous one? Great singer!

| I'm diggin' it.
And I really like Tornillo's vocals. He's "Udo-esque" enough that it still sounds like Accept but something about his voice doesn't annoy me nearly as much as Udo does. He's less nasally or something.
So far I think "Stalingrad" is at least on par with "Blood Of Nations". _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Who got the one with the bonus DVD? I watched the DVD and those kick azz! So far Stalingrad is as good as BOTN. I think Wolf Hoffman & Herman Frank compliment each other quite nicely. Funny how those were/are never talked about as 2 of the best twin guitar combos.
I think are great and Wolf does have his own style.

So far I think "Stalingrad" is at least on par with "Blood Of Nations". I have always dug Accept, but less face it, Udo's voice is an acquired taste. In the visual, and so shallow 80's it is my opinion that if Udo looked more like a typical rock star the band would have been even more successful in the States.

That's it! Okay, saw them live yesterday. It was the first time for me. And it was an excellent show! They played track after track, solo after solo without breaks between them. This was just incredible. The set was good, a couple of new songs (from both, Stalingrad and Blood of the Nations) that fitted well with the traditional stuff. Shadow Soldiers is a killer, not only on the record! Only thing that could be criticized is their choice for the opener - Hellfire is the weakest song on Stalingrad (imo) and the audience's reaction was modest at most. But afterwards, the ambiance grew better. And so, the concert was nothing but awesome!

| Like it better than Blood, and thats only the first listen. BotN seemed a bit flat and long to me, maybe because I read how good it was before an actual listen. - Dellocatus wrote:

My first concert ever was Accept on their blood tour, and they were great even though our club ruined the sound - usual story here in Russia. It is great you enjoyed the concert, cause they are awesome.

| In summary, after one spin I think Stalingrad is at least on par with Blood Of Nations. I actually think I like this one slightly more. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

My first concert ever was Accept on their blood tour, and they were great even though our club ruined the sound - usual story here in Russia. It is great you enjoyed the concert, cause they are awesome. Your first concert EVER?! So there aren't many bands performing in your area, I suppose? That your local club ruines the sound is sad. The venue, where I saw Accept was excellent in terms of sound. I've been there several times (e.g. for Saxon and others) and the tune has always been perfect. @Horseman: Why does everyone love "Teutonic Terror" that much? It's a good song, no doubt, but I think they are a few that are better on both, BotN and Stalingrad. And though Teutonic Terror sounded fine live, the audience reacted with restraint.
