| After Black Sabbath was forced to cancel their reunion tour following guitarist Tony Iommi's lymphoma diagnosis, Sharon Osbourne, wife and manager of Ozzy, revealed in a radio interview that the band would perform one show in the United States. She mentioned that it would take place in August, and now, rumors are swirling that the band will headline Lollapalooza, reports Noisecreep.
The festival is scheduled to take place from August 3rd-5th in Chicago, and reportedly, the lineup that was leaked has Black Sabbath joining the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Keys, Jack White and Florence + the Machine on the list of headliners.
If Sabbath is scheduled to play at Lollapalooza, the question still remains, who will be drumming? As previously reported, original drummer Bill Ward has not been able to reach an agreement with the other bandmembers in terms of what deems to be a fair and equitable contract.
No longer a rumor, Perry Farrell confirmed it in Rolling Stone

| I've read some places saying Vinny and others saying the guy from Slipknot. Would like to see Vinny step in if they can't work it out with Bill. | |

The original article mentioning the Slipknot drummer was just an April Fools joke. I would like to see Kenny Aronoff take over. He was great on Iommi's solo album, 'Fused'. I don't think Vinny's drumming style would work well with this lineup. His drumming is far too simple. They need someone with swing.

| Vinny Appice addresses the Sabbath drumming situation... - Quote :
- Sleaze Roxx: Last question, Black Sabbath will be playing their only North American show without Bill Ward in Chicago at Lollapalooza this summer. If Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler approached you about sitting in for that date would you do it?
Vinny Appice: (pause) I would love to do the gig if asked. It's kind of hard not to do something with Black Sabbath at this point because it is coming up on some of the last things that they'll probably do -- ever. Black Sabbath is part of rock 'n' roll history and its part of my family. If they wanted me for a gig I'd love to do it, but right now I'm concentrating on Kill Devil Hill. If I stepped in for the gig it would have to not interfere with Kill Devil Hill or it would have to benefit it. My idea is to have my own band and rely on my band and not other people. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | Apologies. I haven't been keeping up with the latest news on Sabbath, so I'm wondering. Why wouldn't Bill be drumming in any future shows?
Thanks. | |

Thanks. $$$. Bill claims the contract he was offered was unfair. Sounds like all 4 memebers were NOT getting an equal share. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | These guys are loaded, pay Bill Ward his fair share, and get on with it, the way these guys all get along I am sure this will be the final or one of the final go arounds with this version of Black Sabbath

| I agree. The original four are the best way to see Sabbath live, especially if this will be their last "hurrah".
I missed my opportunity to see them with Dio back in 2007. They came to my area (Concord, Ca), but I didn't know about it until it was too late. Sucks. So, I'm hoping Sabbath comes back around here because I AM NOT missing them live again.

| I've been lucky enough to catch a few different Sabbath lineups.
w/Tony Martin on the Forbidden tour, w/Dio on the Dehumanizer tour and the original lineup in 1999 on their first reunion tour.

| My first concert had Black Sabbath in the line-up. Saw them again in 1977 Two tours w/ Dio and a show w/ Gillian. I also caught the last part of a show w/ Gillen and Eric Singer in the band. _________________ | |

Oh yea, saw that one too. Although that's the night Halford stepped in when Ozzy got sick or lost or someting. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.
