Tampa Bay just swept the Washington Capitals and are the first team to advance to the third round of the playoffs.

Although I wasn't expecting a sweep, I'm not at all surprised that the Lightning advanced. They have good core of players and Roloson's been playing well in goal. On top of that, the Capitals have to be the biggest chokers in the league. Year after year, they are one of the top talented teams and somehow just can't win in the playoffs. I believe that it's time that they'll get rid of Boudreau.
And on another note ,both the Red Wings and Flyers are down 3-0. Just incredible.

I watched the Flyers give up 2 goals in the first minute of play. 2 goals, 1 minute of play.
I'm done. See you guys next season.

The Caps biggest problem is they have no heart or fire. All the talent in the world can't overcome what the Lightning did to them (or Montreal last year). The cliche is so true - who wants it more wins. And Boudreau is the least of their playoff issues, though he'll probably take the fall for it. Honestly as a Caps fan I'm almost happy/satisfied that they were able to get out of the first round.
Always thought this summed up everything about the team (Warning for language)

Time to cut off wings, baby!
What a weak way call against Weber last night. And Kesler with the winner... bleh.

The Bruins deviate from the script and beat the Flyers in game four! Claude Julien kept his mouth shut and let his players play.
So it's Boston and Tampa Bay in the conference finals. The baddest, most aggressive team in the league versus a skilled, tightly defending team with a revolutionary coach. Hard to pick a clear favourite, but I'll go with the Bruins. They just have to dump and chase a lot instead of running into that center ice clog the Bolts like to set up. And forecheck violently.
In the West, the Red Wings are still alive. I thought for sure they're toast after Heatley tied the game in the third. Looked like it was all Sharks, plus there was that questionable offside call on a 3-on-1. But the Red Wings did take over in the last five minutes and Darren Helm got the winner. It was a good game, but I hope the Sharks finish the job in game five like last year. Otherwise it will get a bit too nerve-wracking..

I love that the 2 "powerhouse" teams in the east are out....and swept no less ! Too bad the Sharks couldn't complete the trifecta. In the east. I'll go with the Lightning over the Bruins in 6.

Okay, so forget the San Jose Sweep. Took all of 3 days to send me in to official panic mode!
MetalGuy, sorry 'bout them Flyers. I'm so ticked off at their goal tending issues. Enough is enough. They've got to find a legit goalie. They've been dicking around with that position for over a decade!

Damn those Wings. Game was 3-1 in the third and the Wings looked beat. But somehow they suddenly started playing with a purpose and found a way to win. I don't even know what happened - did the Sharks let off just a little bit?
Vancouver - Nashville game six just started. I hate the Nucks, so let's go hicks! Hicks with sticks!

Tomorrow night it's Game Seven between the Sharks and the Red Wings. Within a year we've had two teams come back from being down 0-3 and forcing game seven. One of them won the series, one of them didn't. Just goes to show momentum doesn't carry in the playoffs. It's a toss up.
Winner plays Vancouver. I actually think Vancouver would prefer the Sharks. Detroit plays a pretty similar style of game to the Canucks and I think that could get them off their game a little. At least that's my theory, knowing Detroit has been doing it a lot longer, mastering the puck control game. Though the Canucks do play a lot harder and can force the play. As a matter of fact, the Sharks don't play a very different game either. Either way, it's going to be interesting, coaching-wise.
Certainly these are the top three teams in the West (league?) this season, so it will be a fitting finale no matter what happens. The Canucks earned the bye by being the best team in the regular season.
Tampa Bay and Boston start their series Saturday. It's must-see hockey from now on. Even for a fan of an already eliminated hockey team, like me.

Way to go Sharks ! Glad to see they pulled it out and eliminated the hated Red Wings.
I like the Sharks and Lightning to meet in the Cup finals.

Of the four teams remaining, I am rooting for Vancouver.

Anyone but Vancouver.
Boston - Sharks would be great, imo. Thornton against the team that traded him away. Or how aobut Thornton vs Thornton!?

Conference finals start tomorrow, but damn, the Boogeyman is dead.
Derek Boogaard dead at 28
This really makes me sad. He was a great character, one of my favourite non-Hawks.

Let's go Sharks! Henrik Sedin is the worst NHL captain.
Last night was one of the best hockey nights of the playoffs. The Bruins beat the Bolts 6-5 after a monster performance by the rookie Tyler Seguin in his second ever NHL playoff game. He now has 3 goals and 2 assists in two games. Two teams with great talent - that will be an entertaining series.
