Tonight's Vancouver/Chicago game was epic. Some of the best goaltending I've seen in any playoff game.
I am so glad that Vancouver didn't take the same route Boston took last year. A good omen for Vancouver would be that the 1974-75 Philadelphia Flyers, the last team to lead a series 3-0, only to have the other team (the New York Islanders) tie the series before winning it in the seventh game, went on to win the Stanley Cup that year. Can Vancouver follow suit?
With that out of the way, Chicago played beautifully throughout the series, and I wouldn't argue with someone who claims they deserved to win the series at all. Two of Chicago's three wins were blowouts, and they were strong in defeat in their four losses. Corey Crawford's goaltending was incredible. Still, I'm happy Vancouver won.

Well, the Hawks are out. Great series, high drama, game 7 OT. That's some hockey! I was gutted when they fell down 0-3 in the series, but I can't feel bad about the way they lost now. Actually, anything they would have done this season, barring a repeat, was going to feel a little flat compared to last spring. And even a repeat would make some feel "well, it was better the first time around".

Screw that. Hossa needs a proper offseason and rest, not more hockey. Especially not meaningless games halfway around the world.

Go Flyers! They dominated that game last night. Now THAT is the team we saw all year up until the last few weeks of the regular season. If they can bring that intensity and fury to every game, they will do well.

absolutely. It was great seeing them chase Miller after all the trash talk. Pronger played some more minutes and will get some much needed healing time.

I'm pleasantly surprised the Flyers made it past the first round. Hip-hip-hooray!!

Awwwww, the poor Penguins didn't make it past round 1. What do you guess was the first thing out of their announcers mouth after the loss, "well, if Crosby and Malkin....blah, blah, blah!" Whatever!

Bite it ,typical Flyers fanboy ! I guess we'll have to wait til next year. I thought they'd make it out if the first round but that's it. It was a pretty good year despite all the drawbacks.

Pens fan? I was actually cheering for the Pens to win that series last night so that it could eventually be a Flyers vs. Pens series. Those are always fun.
I am a Flyers fanboy. But I'm not typical because I also love The Kings. Next year the Kings should be a force to be reckoned with. Hopefully Penner will step up.

I was rooting for the pens too and I am a Flyers fan. My sister is a flyers fan and lives out in Pittsburgh with her husband who is a pens fan - he did not have a good night last night...

No one around here did. But we should have expected that I guess.

Oh god, don't even start on them. They may have improved slightly, but they have a long way to go (they're 3 games under .500 right now).If the NFL lockout kills next season,it's dead here sportswise until October.
Round two started with Vancouver beating Nashville 1-0 in game one.
The other pairs are
San Jose - Detroit Washington - Tampa Bay Philadelphia - Boston
I THINK I'd be okay with a Bruins cup run. Though I do hate that incompetent fatface Claude Julien. But when he is competing against guys like Boudreau, Laviolette and Boucher... well, I'll take hardnosed B's hockey every day.
Looking for a sympathetic team in the West is not much easier. I hate Detroit, Vancouver and Nashville and most of their players and all their coaches. By way of deduction, that kind of leaves the Sharks. Getting swept by the Hawks actually kind of made me like seeing post game press conferences with Todd McLellan.
So... Sharks against Bruins for the Cup!
Realistically though it's going to be Vancouver and Washington.

biggest bullshi* of the year. Marian plays much better in national team. NHL playoffs are for loosers, WIHCH is for the world hockey. NHL is only for US and CAN. we dont care about NHL playoff we care as Europe about IIHF tournament. read:

Stop trolling. This is an NHL thread anyway. You can start your own thread about the world champions and see how many people care.

Well the Flyers are off to a riviting start. Yikes. I sure hope they got that outta their system for Game 2.

Embarrassing game for the Flyers. Can't blame the goalies alone for that travesty. Where was the defense?

I'm loving what the Sharks and Lightning are doing so far. Let's hope they keep it up. I'd love to see a Sharks/Bruins final.

The Wings have no answer to the Sharks. And Niemi is starting to play like a defending cup champion. Doesn't have the greatest stats, but can be counted on to make the big save.
