| I have to go for King's X. I've never really gotten into Alice in Chains. They never appealed to me. But then, I am kind of weird. | |

| No comparison. Alice in Chains has too much of an alternative sound, and in general, I HATE alternative that tries too hard to be metal.
However, I've always LOVED King's X.

Uh yeah. My point all along. People like them more. And people on metal boards are more likely to have really heard both bands unlike the MTV crowd, for example.

Yes it does. This is more of a Christian-friendly board. A whole lot more posts on here about Vengeance Rising (for example) than any other secular metal board I have posted on. It isn't surprising that a Christian artist would poll much better here than on another metal board with far more members.
I call ox manur. That's implying that people only vote for King's X because of their early, Christian-themed nuances. Plus, like Ult pointed out, the numebr of voters is small anyway...only 70 people between both boards. And, since you're arguing this board having a Christian slant (since there are a lot of Christians here), it could be argues that BWBK has an anti-Christian slant (since there are not a lot of Christians there) so the results are somehow skewed toward AIC. AND, Braveboard is comprised of a lot of Canadians...maybe Canadians are skewed against King's X. Either way, neither of these polls are a "cross-section" of anything...it's a measure of who is liked more by a small group of 70 people. _________________ FINAL SIGN

| I've not heard very much King's X but of what I've heard I far prefer AiC over them. But like I said, I've not heard much KX.
Can someone recommend me a few great KX songs to check out. I have no idea where to start with these guys.

| TOB cracks me up. If he prefers some obscure band he disses the unwashed masses for not liking them over a popular act. Here, he's saying there better because more people in his poll like them. IT"S CALLED OPINIONS DUDE. Eat more fiber or something. |

| No, I say what I think. You infer what you choose to see. On page 1 I agree with manny that popularity doesn't influence who I enjoy. I guess you missed that huh?
I disagree with Ult's notion that this board is representative of the metal scene as a whole (especially when it comes to appreciating Christian bands). Look at how different this poll turned out on the much larger BraveBoard, albeit as Shawn and I pointed out the sample size is low.

| TOB is just testing the results on a board with more members where, in his opinion, the results will not be tainted by what he sees as Christian bias...I don't buy it, but I understand what he's trying to show. Someone on the braveboard made a comment though, that AIC has been on the radio constantly for 20 years whereas King's X has barely been a blip on the airwaves....that could have a lot to do with public preference...familiarity. This can't be faulted...but it also can't be argued. People like what they like. Also, both bands have fans outside of Metal circles...AIC moreso (airplay/hits). They've both been miscategorized as Metal, Prog, Grunge, etc. I do find it cool that AIC openly admits to KX influence...as do many bands who are considerably more popular than KX. _________________ FINAL SIGN

On the other hand, I find King's X to be a vastly underrated band who are deserving of more success than they have seen. Dug's vocals are soulful and their lyrics thought-provoking, even if I don't always agree with them. I'm sure I am in the minority, but which do you prefer and why?
BTW, in case anyone is curious, this thread stems from a discussion over at the CMR that Temple of Blood and I were having. King's X all the way, I totally agree with you on what you said about both bands.

| Both are great bands and not many metal bands used vocals like Alice In Chains or King's X have. Both bands were and continue to be critics darlings, and both bands are excellent live.
I have probably listened to Alice In Chains more then King's X because of radio play etc, That being said I voted for King's X, I find musically they have a bit more to draw from then Alice in Chains does.
I am not really sure if there is a Chrisitan bias on this board and if it did it would influence anyone to vote either way for King's X, since the band is not a Chrisitan rock band. Chrisitan rock bands do not, at least to my knowledge have openly g ay members in their line ups.
