I need to finish Near Dark (a really subtle vampire movie; the "V" word is never even mentioned) but then I'll start "Moon". Groovy. I read that the director (Duncan Jones, aka Zowie Bowie, aka David Bowie's son) originally wrote Moon as a trilogy. He's currently working on part 2, which will be an epiloge (sp?) to 'Moon' called 'Mute'. Details are few, but Sam Rockwell is set to appear again. I also read that the exterior shots of the lunar cars and moon surface were all done with miniature models, no CGI. Horray for old school!! _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| Very cool, didn't know he was working on another film! The use of miniatures was one of the first things I noticed and it brought a warm feeling to my heart to see it...I hate CG.

| Godzilla - King of the Mosters The girls and I had many a laugh from this one. They are spoiled by modern pacing and FX, so they thought the man-in-a-suit and all the toy war machines hilarious. They are also familiar with Blue Oyster Cult's "Godzilla" so they loved when Godzilla "picks up a bus and throws it back down"... Awesome movie! | |

Awesome movie! Love that one! Have you seen the original Japanese version without Raymond Burr? Completely different feel to that one. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

I think I actually have, but that was literally decades ago when I was a wee lad. Train - "meh" chop 'em up in Eastern Europe movie. Shutter Island - Not bad at all "what's going on?" type movie.

| Chloe - interesting but ultimately misfired erotic thriller from Atom Egoyon. The film was too short for the scope they were trying to shoot for. One thing though, Amanda Seyfreid is SMOKING HOT. Yowza.

| "Suspiria" - Dario Argento's '70s classic about witchcraft and murder at a fancy ballet academy in Germany. People seem to really love this movie but I thought it was kinda "Ehhhh." Not really deserving of its legendary rep. There's atmosphere to spare, some great gore, lotsa pretty girls, but the story didn't really start to make a lick of sense till the last fifteen minutes or so.. But then that's Argento all over, from what I've seen of his stuff. Haha. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

I agree with your assessment. In fact that's my opinion of Argento in general. He really outdid himself with his Masters Of Horror episode though. I highly recommend "Jenifer". _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

I've only seen a couple of "Masters of Horror" episodes over the years (I don't have Showtime)... but not that one. Great series though from what little I've seen. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| cool shirt!
last night:
Neil Young - Journey Through The Past Rush - Beyond The Lighted Stage
the Neil Young film is pretty wild. Favorite segment is CSN&Y tripping on acid and walking through a field, while Stills spouts philosophical musings on the cosmos....some great Neil Young performance footage though, great video clips of CSN&Y playing Southern Man and Alabama.
The Rush documentary was great, I watched the 90 minutes of outtakes and it was just as interesting as the film.
It also inspired my new signature....

| Wishmaster. The special effects in this are awesome. The rest of it...not so much.
In Hell. Jean-Claude Van Damme gets sentenced to life in a Russian prison and he needs to learn to fight to survive. Covers all the main prison movie cliches - beatdowns from the guards, anal rape, spending unusual lengths of time in solitary, spiritual uplift - but it's pretty good for a DTV movie.

I like Wishmaster. Just the cameos alone are worth the price. Yeah the acting is pretty iffy but I like the story and the FX. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
