Watched "Date Night" last night with my wife. A pretty good couples comedy. We were both laughing pretty good.

I need to watch "Moon" again.
Because I watch movies in "segments" during my workouts at noon, movies like this can lose me.
I think I understand everything that went on but I need to watch it again to make sure it all makes sense. The fact that I even want to watch it a second time tells me that I liked it.

1932's Freaks. This was a movie I had always heard about but never saw. Finally got to see it tonight on TCM. Pretty cool flick. Plays like an episode of the Twilight Zone.

Watched most of "Bruno" last night. Missed the first 15 minutes. Had some kinda funny moments, but not nearly as funny as "Borat".

Southland Tales - a complete mess, but an enjoyable one...especially for those who've read alot of Phillip K. Dick novels.
Spartan - low budget but crackling kidnap thriller written & directed by David Mamet. Instead of over the top action sequences and impossible escapes, it plays out like reality and focuses on character over special effects. Excellent cast including Val Kilmer, William H. Macy, Kristen Bell and others.

Shutter Island
Well shot movie, albeit tragically predictable. I really wanted to like it, but once I realized it was going down the path I suspected in the first 15 minutes, I was immediately disappointed.

Roman. This is an inversion of May - Lucky McKee stars and Angela Bettis directs. It's really low budget. As in, it makes May look like Avatar. It was okay but I found the story wasn't very affecting because while I felt like I understood where May was coming from, Roman is pretty much a total flake from the get-go.
Above the Law. Steven Seagal's first movie is still his best one (apologies to Under Siege).

I've now watched Moon three times and I love it.
Very subtle and intelligent science fiction. You have to pay attention to this one or plot ideas will sail past you IMO.
And if you need fancy FX, explosions and pyrotechnics...give this a pass. This is very much a script-driven movie.

Saw Death Stalker last night, a prettay bad, yet amusing, Conan rip-off. This should be right up your alley Freddy. There's tons of boobs, big swords and flying heads to be found.

Glad you liked it. I was afraid that maybe we were hyping it up too much and it wouldn't meet your lofty expectations.

Undisputed 2. Even more far-fetched than the original but very entertaining nonetheless. Always nice to see a western martial arts film in which the director knows that to properly shoot a fight you need to pull the camera back, not zoom in.
