Interesting mix of songs. I'm wondering how this will sound vocally?

Sabbath's (After Forever) would be a good choice...

Any chance this will be a double-album? There are soo many good songs they could cover.

Stryper announced on their Facebook page today that the album's title will be "THE COVERING".
...woo, they must've sat up all night coming up with that one

Meh. As much as I like a good covers album, I can't seem to muster up any interest in this album. I'm not a Stryper fan per say, but I'd be willing to give this a shot if the track listing was of more interest to me.
Are they gonna put some sort of "Stryper-esque twist" to any of these tunes or are they just gonna be straight-up covers that you could hear at a bar on a Saturday night? If they are trying to use some sort of "shock factor" of a Christian band performing an Ozzy track to garner interest, it isn't working for me. I dunno?

That's the thing with cover albums. Some people expect you to play them exactly like the originals. It's my opinion that if you are going to cover songs, you should make them sound like you wrote them. Give them your own spin or don't bother.
Molly Hatchet are one of my favorite bands, but they did a cover album and I find it to be boring. They are capably covered, but they didn't really take the songs and make them their own, like they did with "Dreams I'll Never See".
That's why I am so proud of Ultimatum's Lex Metalis. Even though it's a cover album, it sounds like Ultimatum songs. I'm hoping that Stryper will do the same thing, sort of like they did with "Shining Star" and "Piece of Mind".

The Covering is a killer title for a cover album.
I'm surprised no one has used it yet.
I wouldnt say a killer title, doesnt mean its not a good choice cuz I think it is, its simple, and direct

I think The Covering sounds a little goofy and made-up. Then again, there was a time when Stryper themselves were a little goofy & made-up, so I guess it works.

these two albums are both in my top 10 favorite glam metal albums of all time.
2. Soldiers Under Command 3. The Yellow and Black Attack (either mix)
*** gap ***
4. Reborn (this is an okay album, but it never really stuck)
*** gap ***
5. Against the Law (eh, this album pretty much sucks IMO. Although there are about 4 good songs on it. Most of it is just filler crap. I mean, "Shining Star"?? WTF. What a joke.)
