Knowing how many of you hate Pantera here, I imagine this is a pointless thread. Especially considering Nonpoint likely isn't much higher on the Like scale.

I really dig Nonpoint. They're a band still plugging away in the nu-metal/rapcore style and maintain a decent fan base. Gotta respect that. And I've always felt they had a really cool, unique sound.

Anyway, they covered Panter's "5 Minutes Alone." I imagined it would be terrible, as Elias isn't a screamer, you know. But he sings it. Kind of weird at first, but after you get used to it, it clicks.

Sounds a bit like a demo, but I think it's pretty cool. Definitely not what I expected.

Also, if you want to hear the earliest version of this band—really, a totally different band, no matter what people say—check out Nonpoint Factor (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/nonpoint). It's not very good, though.

Nonpoint - what a perfect description of the band. But if they still wanna rock like it's 1999, it's all good by me.

Yes, but to be honest, I haven't listened to any of their albums in at least 2 years. I know some of the guys personally, so I have to give them support, you know?

But Nonpoint and SOAD don't really sound alike, at least to me.

An earlier incarnation of Nonpoint Factor was Order of Chaos. An earlier incarnation of Order of Chaos was Sekel. Sekel was EXTREMELY underground, but had one demo tape, and it was among the best thrash I have EVER heard in my life (terrible production, but the music was insane). Order of Chaos's production still stunk, but the music was nearly as good as Sekel. Nonpoint Factor was pretty good too, but they started heading in the nu-direction, which was a real turnoff. Either way, they started out with a BOATLOAD of promise.
