France is rated the top place to live in the world

Just read this on CNN.com. I thought it was interesting.


According to International Living Magazine, France was voted the best place to live in the world - for the 5th straight year in a row.

Here are the top 10 places to live:

1. France

2. Australia
3. Switzerland
4. Germany
5. New Zealand
6. Luxembourg
7. USA
8. Belgium
9. Canada
10. Italy


They rated these based on many different criteria.

Maybe that's why there are about 500,000 of my people out in France, they must have figured something out.

Well... I wouldn't want to live there.

Despite the unfair stereotypes that seem to cloud most opinions, I have a buddy that lived in France for a few months going to cooking school and he said it was a great place to live.

If I had a choice, I'd go with Italy or Greece myself.

That is weird. Norway has topped lists like that every year for the last 3 years too.

I'm blessed and happy where I live. That being said, I'd love to live somewhere in Europe. Just so beautiful and so much history.

Playing the "if I was filthy rich" game I'd probably have 1/2 places spread throughout Europe to go back and forth between.

My wife always sez she'd love to live in Ireland. Which is pretty funny cuz she's never been there, she's terrified of flying and has never set foot in an airplane. Haha.

As for me...I'm not picky, anywhere where there's beer, internet access and pornography readily available is fine by me.

It's going to be one of the nest great Islamic countries.

Yeah, I was surprised Norway or Sweden didn't make the top 10.

I'm sure they'd both be in top 20 though.



I was actually surprised that my country (the USA) made it to the top 10 - the way things are over here now.

Yeah. It's weird none of the Scandinavian countries are featured in the list. I can't imagine Italy having a better standard of living than Sweden or Norway...

They based it on how much free alcohol each country sent and France sent crates of wine. Norway was going to but they started drinking to celebrate and.........

i went to france once....and i never want to go there again. it was a dump and the people were horrible. same as england really but you dont want to see that kinda thing abroad

I've heard Paris is a serious @!#%hole (obnoxious people, pollution everywhere) but that the rest of the country is generally nice.

I wouldn't mind living in Switzerland or Germany, since my wife is a German citizen.

You could say that about every major city in the world. Before I visited them myself, people told me the same thing about Athens and Rome.

Obnoxious people and pollution go hand & hand with a big city. I know. I live in one. I'm obnoxious, living in my own filth and loving it. But the rest of the country is ok I suppose.

France? Sure, they had Sortilège, Satan's Jokers and Blaspheme...But what have they given us since?

Now, before everyone gets in a tizzy about it. I know there are more French HM bands, but I like these.

France has Heavenly. One of my favorite bands.

Is Fairyland French? I like that band as well.

Never heard them. I'll have to check them out though if they are in that vein!

i was nowhere near paris and it pretty much fit your description. i have honestly yet to meet a nice french person

To paraphrase Blackadder:

I hardly think that a country of people who eat snails and would go to bed with the lamp shade if it but on a tutu is the best place in the world to live.

*dies* I'd rather die a slow death than live in France. After having to go on holiday for 3 week periods in 4 different areas of France, you get to see all of the 'why not to"s.
