Slayer To Tour With MEGADETH

Dave mantioned this bfiefly in one of his posts on the Megadeth forums stating that it should end an on-going feud for good or for at least a long time.

Interesting considering both Mustaine and Kerry King have said some pretty harsh things about each other over the years.

Oh well, one feud down one million more to go.

The prospect of higher ticket sales can do wonders in smoothing out relations.

Both men are in their mid 40's, whatever they were feuding about took place a lifetime ago, it is about time they patched up their petty differences.

I was thinking the same thing, although I do know Tom Araya is Catholic in his personal life. I have also heard Dave Lombardo is, though I have no idea how "devout" they are.

It would be nice if all that can be put aside and a great tour ensues!

If he is ok with blaphemous lyrics he is not devout. I think he more affiliates with the Catholic faith more as a family tradition than anything. Just my opinion of coarse...

I enjoy their CDs for the most part, but the environment that a Megadeth/Slayer show would create is not welcoming to a balding 34 year old man. To be honest, a lot of young metal fans are retarded. I don't want to pay money to share oxygen with those people.

Tom has said in interviews that he doesn't mix his business (Slayer), with his personal life. No different than an actor playing a serial killer in a film. The role has no reflection on the person.

I don't get how a true believer could sell out God for a paycheck. A band like Ultimatum who obvioulsy love what they do and metal in general will probably never cover a song or write a song disrespecting God no matter how much money it pays. The actor analogy is pretty good but at the same time there are actors that refuse to play certain roles that may conflict with their convictions.

The lyrics fit the image, the image provides them with a way to make a living and take care of their families. Comparing them with a Christian band doesn't make sense...because Slayer aren't trying to deliver a message of any sort...other than entertainment. William Peter Blatty is a Catholic, however he made his fortune by writing The Exorcist...the subject matter SELLS TICKETS. I've been listening to Slayer since 1984, I have NEVER taken their lyrics seriously...because I understand that it's just their shtick.

While i do agree that they are entertainment they do definately have a buried agenda in the lyrics. Disrespecting God isn't a horror movie, in fact most horror/gore films are not about putting God down but visual shock. I like Slayers music but i never cared for the lyrics. When they were "Dragon Slayer" yes i'm sure it was about as Motley Crue makeup devil schtick as they come but when every other song is a knock on God there is a message being presented. Bands like Megadeth and Testament have matured away from the same old tired God bashing most bands start their career doing as kids.

I think that's true to a point, and the I love the horror show lyrics, but there are a number of Slayer songs, particularly on their more recent albums, in which Kerry King is absolutely preaching atheism at the audience. And that's okay because it's his band but it does seem sometimes like Araya has allowed King to turn him into a hand-puppet.

And thats what i don't get since Hanneman, Araya and King are all irreplaceble members, why does King have so much control over the other guys?

Because bands have band leaders.
