| It's never right or wrong to like or dislike a band IMO. You like what you like. There is no right or wrong. Personally, I can't stand this band but that doesn't mean those who like them are wrong; we just have differing opinions. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

- Slipknot have been around for many years now. Millions swear by them as true metal warriors. Magz have features about the band. Therefore, i tried to appreciate them: i got the albums, gave them many spins...But despite my constant efforts, their music didn't seem to pass...Could it be me? Or is it that their music is not that enjoyable after all.
Ah! One more thing. Why those stupid masks? It makes me sick seeing one of their members wearing a disfigured mask of Jesus Christ. Those guys are obviously sick and twisted... But hey, it's just my opinion. Slipknob are a completely overrated nu metal band and aimed at people who are about to top themselves and who are full on misantropes. Even though there is nothing really emo about them I have a feeling theyd attract a huge abundance of emos like cmon listen to songs like "Wait and Bleed" that would be an ideal song for an emo to listen whilst he/she is slashing their wrists But despite that they are not in the bottom heap of the nu metal subgenre and there has been alot of hype that they a have a really good drummer but it could be all wrong of course. They have 1 or 2 good songs of that vol 4 album and I have heard a few songs of their latest album and they are ok but very bland (theyve got guitar solos beleive it or not). They are way more talented than their trashy F grade nu metal contempories like Kid Rock, Linkin Park, Limp Bizcrap, The Deftones, Drowning Pool, POD and are slightly better than Distrubed and Godsmack but no way as talented as their A grade contempories like System of A Down, Sevendust, KoRn (well not all their stuff is great they only released 3 decent albums s/t,FTL and TALITM and their latest albums are turkeys) and the awe inspiring Rob Zombie.

He was once not now but listen to his trashy album Devil Without a Cause which made him famous its got nu metal written all over it and he was one of the first musicians to mis rap and rock together even though it sounds horrible. But these days he is more focused on being a Lynyrd Synyrd wannabe

| Devil Without A Cause is not nu-metal; it's rap-metal fusion. There's a huge difference between that sound and the sound of the other bands you cited l Do you consider Rage Against The Machine nu-metal too? Nu-metal to me is stuff like Slipknot, Trivium, Shadows Fall, etc. Rap/metal fusion is it's own genre IMO. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Well maybe not completely but the label has been used on him. Rage Against The Machine are not nu metal but a blue print nu metal band because alot of countless nu metal bands were highly influenced by them. Trivium and Shadows Fall are NOT nu metal in anyway possible. Trivium would be emo metal/metalcore and Shadows Fall would be thrash metal with metalcore mixed in | |

| OK, obviously we just differ on genre definition. Regardless, back to the original question, I don't think it's "wrong" to like what you like and dislike what you dislike; it's all about musical tastes and therefore totally subjective. Heck, there are some revered metal bands that I just don't like (*Motorhead* cough, cough). That doesn't make me right and everyone else wrong or vice versa. It just means we have different musical tastes. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Gee, do I detect a hint of sarcasm? Liking those bands makes him not a metal fan? Why? Trivium is a metal band, Limp Bizkit, although I hate them, is also. How does anyone liking certain groups make their opinions any less meaningful? I love Nirvana, so I guess I'm not a "true" metal fan.

| What is a true metal fan anyway? If someone likes Nirvana they can't like (name whoever you consider a true metal band) ? Is there a rule book what makes someone a real metalhead and if there is where can I find it? | |

Is there a rule book what makes someone a real metalhead and if there is where can I find it? Apparently, Fingers. Judging by Fingers, I'd assume his guidelines would look something like this: 1. Slipknot sucks ass 2. Nirvana sucks ass 3. Trivium is rap music 4. Kid Rock has no penis 5. Correct punctuation is for pussies.

| Just because you like a band that is widely disliked, like bands that arent metal, like bands that are popular, does not make you less of a metalhead. A metalhead is someone who will most likely go back metal at the end of the day and prefers metal music to other genres. Liking bands outside of the metal genre doesnt make you any less of a metalhead, all it makes you is a music fan.
Whoever came up with the term "TRUE" or "REAL" metalhead is really clueless.

Whoever came up with the term "TRUE" or "REAL" metalhead is really clueless. It is well said(written). There is no such thing as a true metal fan. There is just the people that is really into metal, and the people that just like certain bands of metal and that is it. I don't konw if A PECFECT CIRCLE is nu-metal, but i have their secon cd and I loved it. And it doesn't make feel ashamed of it
