| Turbo isn't a bad album, it was great for what it was when it was released. Still stands the test of time. Sure some songs are a little weak, but all the songs are good.
As for the 70's albums, get them all! Stained Class is my favorite from that era. Sad Wings of Destiny rules too. Hell, they all do from the 70's! | |

| I went to Wiki the other day (I know, I know, it's not the most accurate source of info but it's a guilty pleasure of mine) to look for some sales figures on this album. I remember when it came out I grabbed it and was in full Priest hysteria at the time. Anyway, on Wiki, they said that Turbo was supposed to be a double album called Twin Turbos (since the word was all the rage in the mid 80's) and Ken and Glenn had just bought Porsche twin turbos. The first cd would be Turbo as we know it and would be the more synth oriented and commercially accessible of the two; while the second cd would be Ram It Down as we know it today and be the heavier of the two. The only evidence I could find to corroborate this is inside the liner notes for Metalworks 73-93, bassist Ian Hill states, "we actually planned this for 'Turbo' but we rerecorded most of it." Can anyone else lend any credence to this scenario? | |

I've heard that story before... dunno how much of it is fact and how much is urban legend at this point, though. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I remember articles in Hit Parader at the time that eluded to Turbo was to be a double album but the record label nixed the idea, of course I am not sure how factual this is since Hit Parader is the National Enquirer of rock journalism. | |

| The majority of the Ram It Down material was written at the same time as the Turbo sessions, but as noted above they ended up re-recording all those songs.
I think Ram It Down is my least favorite Halford-led Priest album, it just never did anything for me. |

| Probably complete nostalgia at this point but I even like the cheesier numbers from Turbo like Private Property and Parental Guidance. Sure in the grand scheme of their catalogue this one wouldn't rank too high for me. But as a time/place album I'd say I'm also a Turbo Lover. | |

- its "KILLING MACHINE" not "HELL BENT FOR LEATHER"
I have a vinyl copy of that album that I bought while I was in Germany with the "KILLING MACHINE" title, but here in the US it's always been "HELL BENT FOR LEATHER." I have it on CD now (with the "HBFL" title) but I still keep the LP around as a curiosity item. As long as we're talking Priest oddities, I'm told that POINT OF ENTRY also has two different cover designs. I'm only familiar with the US version (which shows an endless white line of paper heading off into a desert landscape) ... what's the other one look like? _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"
