| I always wondered if the GLORIOUS BURDEN recordings with Barlow on vocals will see the light of day at some point. It would be interesting to hear them and compare it with the Owens version. | |

Now i would love to hear the Barlow version of The Glorious Burden. Jon says they were uninspired. I always thought that was a load of crap, but considering that Matt truly completely walked away from metal and became a cop, like he said he would, I'm inclined to believe Jon. Maybe Matt's heart really wasn't in it. His post-Iced Earth actions would suggest that. |

Maybe Matt's heart really wasn't in it. His post-Iced Earth actions would suggest that. I don't know, he's in a band at his police force singing about not doing drugs so he's still clearly into music and performance... although, something about Matt's over-the-top singing style seems to make that image very hilarious. But anyway, I'm pretty sure the Barlow recordings for TGB got destroyed in a flood in Schaffer's basement. I remember hearing a lot of stuff got ruined in that and I believe TGB was among them. At the very least, you can still hear Matt in bits of the TGB we got, like Attilla and one of the versions of When The Eagle Cries (I can't remember which) - that'll have to do ;P _________________

| i was not quite sure how i would like ripper in IE but I do like glorious burden a lot. I like barlow but ripper does a nice job as well. I am pleased he is continuing with IE as that was my biggest fear it would be a once and done album. Alex | |

| So, the promo of this one has leaked. And, of course, the turds at metal-archives.com have been tearing it to shreds. Typical of the Blabbermouth generation. So let me set things straight. People are slamming the production, saying it's terrible. Let's put it this way, the production is very good as it is, on a leaked version no less. It can only get better with an official release, but is fine as is. It does lack that certain "punch" that older albums have, but that's thanks to Pro-Tools. However, it's still very good.
"Ten Thousand Strong" is awesome! A heavy song with great riffs, great chorus, and great vocals from Owens. The trilogy is excellent after the initial shock. As good as I think it is, it's very different, and I'm sure people will hate on it simply because it isn't comparable to the original. The approach of this new version is like that on the Gettysburg trilogy. It's very atmospheric, far more symphonic and orchestral—which is what Jon promised, by the way. And I love it. "Birth Of The Wicked" is the heaviest this time out, while "Prophecy" is much more laid back, as is "The Coming Curse."
The original trilogy and this version are both different enough to stand on their own merits. But people will compare, and people will hate. But, like I said, once you get over the initial shock, it gets better and better. This EP will be well worth the money! |

| I've heard the leaked version. Sounds good. The guitar sound is good but not as sharp as in the past. | |

| The new song was pretty good and while I liked the Something Wicked Trilogy I was a bit dissappointed with it. It was still good but it's hard to top songs that were already perfect IMO.
Ten Thousand Strong has definetly got me pumped about the new album though. |

| Neil Turbin could work. His voice had a bit of a Paul Stanley tone to it on Fistful Of Metal. | |

| I also agree with the people that said Ripper doesn't fit in I.E. I knew that the minute i heard his voice over their style. | |

| Ripper is KILLING on this new ICED EARTH EP...spun it a few times now. I can understand some people not wanting the past messed with (like the Star Wars movies) but the rerecordings of the Trilogy are awesome! The new song 'Ten Thousand Strong' is a monster as well... |

| That was better than I was expecting actually. Ten Thousand Strong is a decent cut and musically, I thought the Something Wicked Trilogy came off really well. I'm irked by the vocals, probably just because it isn't Matt, but they were actuall decently done for the most part. I liked it. If the album is as good as this, it'll be much better than Glorious Boredem. _________________ | |

It takes a good while to get used to the new versions if, like me, you're really familiar with the originals. Has anyone ever visited the forums at Metal-Archives? Wow! It's like Blabbermouth, but worse. Last night was the first time I checked out the forum. Truly terrible display of what's wrong with music fans these days. |

| Yeah, I've heard bad things of that forum. I can barely stand the tools at Blabbermouth - I don't think I'd bode well in a forum full of them.
I haven't given the trilogy another listen, but I have given Ten Thousand Strong a couple more plays. I actually really like it, it's a good track. The chorus is great. _________________
