Romeolimagolf, you're missing out on a lot of great sounds. I could probably list 100 more albums that are non-metal and all great.

Me too and i always thought that THIN LIZZY, ALICE COOPER, AEROSMITH or TED NUGENT for exemple were/are part of our metal movement even if they played heavy rock/hard rock. I would not call them non metal bands. This is just my opinion and i think yours too, no???

I like an occasionl song from some hard rock, alternative, classic rock, or even Nu-Metal artists, but not any whole albums - certainly not enough to recommend an album by any of them.

| Kmorg- Aunt Mary? (the Stumblin' Stone, Joinin' the Crowd guys)? I haven't seen that band mentioned since my grandfather died. What's next? Neon Rose? November? | |

| I should have added that Aunt Mary was a great band. Real pioneeers of the Scandinavian rock scene. Unlike their contemporaries November, they sang in English. Traditional Hard rock with a groove. My only warning about them would be that they did a cover of "Abraham, Martin & John" called "Jimmi, Janis, & Brian". That was a little over the top in retrospect. | |

Aerosmith - Rocks for example is one of the heaviest albums to come out of the 70's. The Thin Lizzy album I recommended was before they started playing heavy metal. Their self titled debut was heavily influenced by Irish folk. Thin Lizzy started out as a power trio in a similar manner to Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience combining early 70s rock and Irish folk. They would develop the lethal twin guitar attack and their heavy metal sounds until several albums later.

I agree with your statement, so I'm going to exclude some of the hard rock bands that were obvious inspirations for metal bands... I'll try to restrict this to rock/pop stuff: Marvelous 3 - ReadySexGo (one of my favorite albums ever) U2 - Achtung Baby Huey Lewis & The News - Greatest Hits Bon Jovi - New Jersey (I'm trying not to put pop-metal in here, but Bon Jovi's a pretty mainstream rock band, so they get the nod here.) Richard Marx - Greatest Hits The Cars - self-titled Boston - self-titled Kansas - Leftoverture Journey - Greatest Hits That's all I can think of off the top of my head, most of my CDs are in storage for now.

| This list is not my favourite non metal albums (although some would make my all time list), but their rock n' roll albums that incorporate heavy/hard rock guitars into their music but could not be called hard rock in the classic sense of the term. So these are albums that would appeal to those into hard rock/metal. If you ever come across these albums in your record store digs get them straight away, trust me!
1. Redd Kross - Third Eye (1990) 2. Manic Street Preachers - Generation Terrorists (1992) 3. Beasts Of Bourbon - The Low Road (1991) 4. Dogs D'Amour - Straight??!! (1990) 5. Generation X - Valley Of The Dolls (1979) 6. Smack - On You (1984) 7. Tex And The Horseheads - Life's So Cool (1985) 8. Lords Of The New Church - Lords Of The New Church (1982) 9. Pezband - Pezband (1977) 10. Thee Hypnotics - Soul Glitter & Gin (1991) 11. Flesh For Lulu - Plastic Fantastic (1989) 12. Hanoi Rocks - Oriental Beat (1982) 13. The Lime Spiders - The Cave Comes Alive! (1987)
