| Alrighty, we've got 12 players. I'll match everybody up, and then you and your partner can swap mailing addys. Once you get the comp and listen to it, post what you think about it here. You can post the track list and do a song by song rundown, overall opinion, whatever. | |

| I have not begun crafting Saxon's yet, but fear there will be loats of "Un" Metal tunes on it...as he already has nearly every cd I do.... probably get some oddities on it.... | |

| Crap - i didn't even notice that we already got paired up.
I sent Shiney a comp a few days ago. Does that count? No - I need to do another. That one was just something I whipped together with no thought. |

| I didn't either, Bro...until last night. I kept watchig the thread witing for the pairings...and I never noticed he just listed the new pairings in an edit of the first post... The first one yo already sent can count...All your comps are righteous and great.... I'll get yours made tuesday when I'm off...It'll be ecclectic and not entirely metal!!!! | |

| Subject: Review of Heath's Comp. to me.... Wed Feb 07, 2007 10:09 pm | |
| 1- Sepultura - Mass Hypnosis - Good music, but the vocals leave me wanting. I've always been somewhere in the middle with thrash and this one is so-so....based on the vocals....but that's how Sepultura is with me. They are hit or miss....this one is right in the middle. 2- Iced Earth - Colors - I'm a big "Ripper" Owens Iced Earth fan. I've always ah!, been somewhat distracted ah! by the kind of ah! vocal delivery on this ah! Iced Earth song ah!, but I must admit this song rocks anyhow! Might have to check out more very early IE. 3- Anthrax - Aftershock - Always somehow missed out on these guys, except for what little of their stuff that slipped onto the airways. Well, it would seem I was missing out as well. I never realized the vocals were this good. One of my biggest complaints about thrash is that the vocals sometimes seem to be an after-thought...not this time!! This is a romping kind of thrash song, and I like that! 4- Death - Crystal Mountain - This is a speedier kind of Death(y) metal that I like...when they stay in a tight groove and don't let loose. When they slow it down to get experimental or technical I start to wander mentally. Luckily they don't do that too much, or when they do it's actually interesting and not just tomfoolery or wankery. This is a pretty darn good song. 5- Pantera - Floods - This is the only song Heath sent me that I know for sure I've heard before since I owned this CD once. Not a bad song. I traded the CD because besides this song and a couple others, I just was finding Pantera stale...but this one isn't bad....Heath, you might have the CD I traded for all I know! 6- Overkill - Live Young, Die Free - Because when I first got into Metal heavily I listened to only Christian metal I missed a lot of the great bands of the late 80's early to mid 90's. Well, Overkill seems to be one of the great bands I missed out on. My thrash complaint about vocals can't be made here. The music is tight and romping...catchy! Nice pick, Heath! 7- Motley Crue - Toast of the Town - Again, I was into what metal I heard on the radio or MTV back even as a kid in the early to mid 80's, but beyond that I didn't know too much, even of the Crue....By the time I got into metal heavily I was into Thrash, Death and "Speed" metal. I made fun of my friends who liked Motley Crue. Little did I know what I was missing. This song is GREAT!! Heavy and distorted enough, but fun. You can tell they're having fun. (I like Edguy for the same reasons! That's another discussion!!) 8- Cynic - The Eagle Nature - I guess you would call this progressive death metal. I don't know if this IS death metal...what is this?? Sorry Heath, this one doesn't do it for me. I'm not cultured enough for this. OrionIceCrystals would probably say I don't know how to listen to music. I am pretty low-brow when it comes to music and movies.... 9- Lacuna Coil - Halflife - This is my first exposure to Lacuna Coil. Not bad at all. Not super great, but not bad. I like it when the deathy vocals come in at the end. A girl fronted band NEEDS that extra edge sometimes for me. 10- Brides Of Destruction - I Got A Gun - Again, not bad but not spectacular either. Slow or mid-tempo songs have to really bring it or I lose interest or get distracted easily (which is my flaw). This one doesn't completely BRING IT, so it gets a half nod instead of a full one Overall not a bad offering. Thanks Heath!!!! You've done a good job of finding stuff I've not heard before. You've expanded my Thrash horizans. This will get a lot of spins!! (except for Cynic... ) This was LOTS of fun...already looking forward to the next one!!!!! | |

| Cool review SM74! and nice choice with the Crue tune, Heath! Pretty Boy Floyd ripped that one up years ago. Don't know why it did make the cut on 2FFL? |

| Yeah...Scott and I swapped before....But it took me 2 months to get his 2 discs to him...as I had burner issues. Good honest sumuppance Mr. Scott. CYNIC are awesome but they are a band that require repeated listens to warm up to...A better track may have been "Veil Of Maya" a litle less atmospheric and more grabbing, imo. HEATH...good job, Brother!! _________________ "Oh man, I need TV? When I got T Rex"
