Take over Shiney. I did the first one, Sideshow did the second,
now it's your turn. Just start a new thread and rename this on
Comp 2 reviews or something. You have the power to sticky and
un-sticky and all that.

Nope I haven't recieved mine and I think Wargod48 hasn't recieved his from me yet, but sure start a new one and me and Wargod48 will review when the CDs arrive.

I assume that in any new set up we wont be paired with anybody from the first 2 comps ? Nothing against the 2 guys who I got (Sideshow in the 1st and Wargod48 in the 2nd) but of course the variety of different members is essential to keep it alive.

I'll handle the reigns of round 3...in a couple of days.

I'll give Locky and Wargod a few days to get their from last round...then we shall go to it....

I just wish it were rund 2 so I could title the thread:

Metal Comp Share II: Electric Boogaloo (maybe only funny to me)

My review of SAXON1500's CD:

1. Dimentia - Scream: Very cool song. Never heard this band before.

2. Sacrosanct - Dimension of Violence: This is a great song!

3. Piranha - Pirana Attack/Erase You: Decent.

4. Annihilator - Rage Absolute: Really cool song, awesome riff work. Probably the best here.

5. Rumble Militia - No Nazis: Decent.

6. Solitaire - Thunderhorse: Didn't really care for this one.

7. Wolfspider - Manifestants: I dug this one.

8. Dodd - Wavemaker: My least favorite song on the album.

9. Bad Brains - Rise: Didn't get into this one a whole lot.

10. Atrocity - Deep in Your Subconscience: Great song!

11. Dead Head - Untergang Des Abendlandes: An intro song, I assume. Just a bit of guitar work.

12. Dead Head - Saved: Pretty nice riffwork.

13. Kublai Khan - Dead Breath: I liked this one.

14. Impaler - Crack That Whip: This is a funny song. I like it a lot.

15. Gama Bomb - Zombie Creeping Flesh: Need to give this a couple of more listens at the moment.

16. Mass Extinction - Nuclear Dawn: Decent.

17. Killing Spree - After the End: Decent.

18. The Regime - U.G.L.Y.: Funny.

19. Nuclear Simphony - Cry: OK.

20. Risk - Perfect Kill: Decent.

21. Outrage - Name Your Poison: I liked this one, too.

22. S.O.D. - Rock You Like a Hurricane: LOL.

Gonna leave this up for Wargod and sovdat to post their reviews of the discs that Locky and myself sent.

Once they are done, I'm gonna move this on over to the vault for old threads. I'll leave it there for future comp references (as far as pairings and all goes, so we can try to keep the comp swapping fresh).

Ok here is my review and so you know I'm not that good at it but here goes!

Got this from Locky along with another cdr but haven't heard it yet.

1. Roger Merit - Roots Rockin' Roll, This is a punk rock tune with some hard rock influences but the vocals and stylr punk. Not to bad.

2. Sledgehammer Ledge - Salute The Thrash, This is more of a hard rocking thrash tune but leaning more towards the heavy metal side!

3. Death Wish - Prey To The Lord, Definitely old school bay area thrash sounds, Fast as hell. Good stuff!

4. Bullet - Bang Your Head, This is a real a$$ kicker bordering on the AC/DC vibe very cool stuff. I have some Bullet!

5. Runamok - Just A Game, Kinda thrashy with some heavy vocal vibe! This kinda reminds me og Holy Mother! I also have some Runamok but sounds little different than this one!

6. Force Of Evil - The Sinister Show, impressive lead inb with the guitars, heavy metal definitely old style but the vocals are not quite what I expected but overall heavy. I have some Force Of Evil.

7. Burning Point - To Hell And Back, Love the band period I have all their releases, melodic power at it's best!

8. Bruce Dickinson & Mr Bean - I Want To Be Elected, very cool song with Bruce singing and Bean narrating.

9. Falkirk - Calling, power metal with prog tendancies. I will search for some!

10. Freternia - Grimbor The Great, another melodic power metal tune similar in style to Burning Point but vocally higher pitched.

11. Gun Barrel - Straight Down To Hell, Germanys Gun Barrel delivers a nice hard rock tune similar to Motorhead. I have all 3 of these.

12. Mr. Nasty - Rock N Roll Man, Cool tune kinda like Rose Tattoo but newer! Love it!

13. Helloween - Power (instrumental), Love Helloween but the earlier stuff.

14. Living Death/Axel Rudi Pell - Jingle Bells, Ha ha this was cool. Love Axel Rudi!

15. Mortal Sin - Inside Out, great Aussie thrash I have this one as well don't get much better than this!

16. Tyran Pace - Killers On The Highway, Good rockin tune with fast paced guitars.

17. Murphys Law - again another hard rocking tune in the vein of Rose Tattoo.

18. Sauron Lamderth - El Saltimbanqui, Not sure if I ever heard of this bad vocally not sung in english, kinda irish flok metal!

19. Stormwitch - Kiss Of Death, Heard of them but their sound is new to me, heavy sound but can't quite put my finger on who they are suppose to sound like! Oh I know they have a Jason & The Scorchers vibe vocally!

Overall a good comp, some stuff there kicks ass and then other stuff that I will be looking for.

Thanx Locky, hope you enjoy mine!

PostSubject: Re: Comp Pairings Round 2   Comp Pairings Round 2 - Page 5 Icon_minitimeSun Mar 18, 2007 5:58 pm

Got a great compilation from Sideshow, thanks, bro!!

Here's a short review:

1. Vomitory - F.T.A. (Germany / '91) - been bugging a friend of mine to make me a CD-R of his copy for years! So this was my first exposure to this band. Great thrash, kinda reminds me on a more aggressive and more technical version of early Xentrix.

2. Redrum - Frontline (USA / '88) - Another band I was familiar with just by the name before. Well, they do sound like your typical thrash band from the late 80s, with great catchy riffs. The only letdown was a singer, which sounds a bit odd at times, but nothing disastrous.

3. Pentagram - Mephistopheles (Turkey / '90) - Fast Euro-thrash influenced metal with a very raw production and also a big heavy metal influence in it! The vocalist sounds EXACTLY like Mille from Kreator! The main riff is absolutely brilliant!

4. Skyclad - The Sky Beneath My Feet (England / '91) - I never got into Sabbat and the only Skyclad song I've heard till this was Building a Ruin (which I thought was good, but it wasn't thrash), so this was a really nice surprise! Very "grim" thrash! I'll have to check out those Sabbat albums again ...

5. Imagika - Court of Confusion (U.S.A. / '98) - Midpaced hardcore-ish, yet melodic thrash. The screams reminds me of Raven sometimes. All in all a good song, but it doesn't keep up with the rest on this comp! Smile

6. Eldritch - Shadow Fire (Japan / '93) - One of a bunch Japanese thrash metal bands that I've just heard of! Great guitar work here, and songs constantly borders on heavy/power metal - especially the vocalist reminds me on Silver from Muro (minus the Spanish lyrics of course).

7. Kr' Uppt - Womb of Decay (U.S.A. / '96) - very BA sounding thrash band here!! They reminded me on Heathen's Victims album at times, and the vocalist sounds like Guido did on Inferior to None album!

8. Terminator - Samota (Czech Republic / '91) - Ahh, that Slavonic accent! Smile Gotta love it haha. Very nice song here, with a big influence from European thrash metal scene.

9. Master - Screams of Pain (Russia / '94) - Another band I was unfamiliar with. Mosh-y thrash with a great, melodic chorus! The rest is full throttle all the way, though.

10. Cold Steel - Truth or Dare (U.S.A. / '92) - Didn't know what to expect from a band with an album called "Freakboy". Mostly mid paced thrash metal with gang vocals, kinda more serious version of Acid Reign? Cool, but nothing outstanding.

11. Stygian - Behind Death's Door (U.S.A. / '92) - The vocalist reminds me on Katon from Hirax, just that he's way, way better! Smile The music here is very heavy thrash (not referring to "heavy metal" here)!

12. Ratos De Porao - Counting the Dead (Brazil / '90) - The only RDP thing that I've heard till this moment was of course just Crucificados Pelo Sistema, thanks to Sepultura. Well, the song here is apparently from their thrash era and is a lot more to my liking!! A slight comparision with Vio-Lence wouldn't be wrong, I guess!

13. LawShed - Go it Blind (Japan / '91) - Another Japanese thrash band that I was unfamiliar with, and boy what a mistake this was!! This is probably my favorite track from this compilation - hyperspeed thrash metal all the way!! And gotta love the Japanese accent as well!

14. Fastkill - Kill for Pleasure (Japane / '04) - Newer band, which, as many other new thrash bands, follows the formula "harder, faster, better". So, musically more or less your normal thing, but the vocals are just insane!! Another great track!

15. Broken Bones - Killing Fields (England / '89) - Apparently more of a punk band, but they play nice, stomping mosh-y thrash here! Also, the sounds is a bit "baroque" at times!

16. United - (It's So) Hard to Breathe (Japan / '90) - Finally a Japanese thrash band from the compilation that I was familiar with! Well, this song sounds a lot more like the classic thrash metal than the S.O.D.-ish No IQ album, which is the only United album that I have! This is basically a thrash metal song done to perfection - one of the highlights here for sure!

17. Tenebra - Whatever (Germany / '94) - while the production isn't their strongest point, the music isn't bad at all! Fast song with a lot of speedy riffs, but it doesn't stand out.

18. Squealer - Liar (Germany / '95) - WOW! This was a big surprise! I am familiar with their newer material and this one sounds NOTHING like it! (Melodic?) thrash metal all over the place!

19. Sacrificial - I Fall in Temptation (Denmark / '93) - Another surprise! I have their few track 04 or 05 promo and that is something completely different! What we have here is very similar to early Invocator! Not so great as anything on Excursion Demise, though, but I really like it!

Overall, OUTSTANDING compilation!!! And plenty of new (Japanese Smile ) bands to check out!
