Have you ever seen his movie debut, the cinematic masterpiece "Cool As Ice?"
Greatest bad movie ever. "Yo, drop dat zero and git wit'da hero, girl."
Negative, sounds fly tho boi!
If you ever see the movie, make sure you wear sunglasses while viewing, otherwise the Day-Glo fashions that Ice rocks throughout will blind you for sure.
Yeah, it's pretty bad, what sticks in my mind more is when he was in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II. Ninja Ninja RAP!
When it comes to rap, most of the classic 80's stuff is ok, Run D.M.C. is my favorite, but I like a little Necro too.

I was a fiend, before I became a teen.....
Rap had its moments in the 80's and there was a novelty about it I liked.
Gangster rap ruined it all. I hate 99.9% of what's come out since the early 90's.......

Only rap CD I own, 2 Live Crew,Nasty as they Wanna Be. I know it's nasty & degrading to women, but it is hilarious. Even my wife thinks it's funny.

My musical tastes all seem to emulate one another. Whether it be Metal, Rap, Pop, R&B...the 70's were the best, then the 80's, and finally the early 90's. Occasionally there will be a few groups from the modern era that I like. My favorite groups...
RUN DMC (the absolute best!! No one did it like them!) PUBLIC ENEMY (Chuck D has the most powerful and authoritative voice ever!) LL COOL J BEASTIE BOYS UTFO BOOGIE DOWN PRODUCTIONS ICE T FAT BOYS EPMD TONE LOC SIR MIX A LOT NWA GETO BOYS YOUNG MC WHODINI
A lot of the 80's rap used really heavy guitar parts in their songs at times. "King Of Rock" is an example...simple but heavy riff. Plus, I like the attitude better back then. The vibe was fun and easy going and not so dark and demeaning like that of today. The rap/hip-hop scene today has become so cliche and everyone follows the same themes and patterns...kinda like a lot of Metal. When I hear rap today, I sometimes think, "These guys are so weak compared to RUN DMC and PUBLIC ENEMY." Like someone mentioned already, Chuck D would wipe the floor with these youngsters today. Listen to the faster, flowing, aggressive punch of the vocal deliveries of RUN DMC in their prime and tell me one thing that even comes close to their greatness in today's scene? Their stuff rhymed perfectly and their words/lines sequencing was brilliant. No one does that stuff anymore.

80s and early 90s (only some), anything after .
Vanilla Ice M.C. Hammer Public Enemy Onyx Sir Mix-A-Lot House Of Pain Run DMC Cypress Hill The Wolf Pac (and other artists from the Blade soundtrack) Beastie Boys L.L. Cool J Weird Al Yankovic (that man is dope yo)
For the most part I can't stand the message of most rap (even those I like). I dislike anything that promotes violence, drug use, gangs, cop hating, sex outside marigage, and bad fasion sense (why would anyone want their pants to hang past their ass, their teeth to look like their worth more than their house, and call fasion accessories "bling bling"; to me it just looks plain retarded).

No no no... for me to like them, they have to be so bad they're GOOD. Whereas "TMNT II" was simply BAD.
It's a fine line, really. Like the line between stupid and clever.

Def Leppard was the first band I ever really got into. Surprisingly, Run DMC was the second. Haha. I still love Run DMC, but Back From Hell and Crown Rotal were not very good. Crown Royal was just bad because it wasn't Run DMC. DMC was only on the album in samples, and all the guest vocalists just ruined it. Plus, hearing Run say "nigga" all the time sort of disappointed me. That's not Run DMC. But outside of those two album, they're awesome.
Some other groups I like: Eric B. & Rakim, House of Pain, Cypress Hill, Funkdoobiest, Beastie Boys, Nappy Roots, Del the Funky Homosapien, Kottonmouth Kings (and their side bands), Insane Clown Posse (yep, I like 'em), and a few others. I like Ice Cube and DMX, too, mainly because they sound all hardcore. Haha. I couldn't care less about what they're saying, though.
I'll expand on one group, though. The Kottonmouth Kings. Yeah, they like weed and talk about it...a lot...but they're an awesome band. Very unique. I love how they mix acoustic folky stuff and punk right along with a rap song. They mix it all together and it's great. But they have plenty of straight ahead rap song (the third video, love that beat).

I don't hate all rap. However, I hate most rap. I especially hate modern rap, which is some of the worst music ever created.
Quite possibly the greatest rap song ever created:

I know that song. Are you trying to be funny or are you serious? You gotta admit, Tom Green can flow. Check this out:
Haha. That's pretty awesome. There's a couple clips of him doing that on that show. And for you boxing fans, did you know Max Kellerman used to rap?

I still have the UTFO/Anthrax EP. Great stuff. Didn't get the attention that the Public Enemy/Anthrax song did, but still a cool song.

Did you know of his rapping outside of boxing interests or is that where the connection was made?

I had no idea until a few months ago. I knew his brother did something with hip hop, but never knew Max did it with him as well when they were younger.
Sadly, his brother was murdered by a boxer a few years ago.

Okay, I know I might sound like an EXTREME POSER when I say this...
The truth is, I listened to rap when I was young. Tupac and Biggie were my boys, along with Snoop Dogg and Will Smith.
I stopped listening to rap music when Tupac and Biggie were shot.
Now I'm all metal, all the time.

Why no more rap? It's cooler to keep it real. I couldn't imagine listening to all metal, all the time. As much as I love it, I need to mix it up quite often else I get bored. Too many bands lack a true identity. That's not to say these bands aren't good, but very few bands really have their own sound. I would hate to have to listen to thrash 24/7. It would all bleed together. For my ears, keeping it diverse makes everything sound fresh and original, even if it isn't. I may go one a power metal kick for a few days, then switch to some extremely different styles like chicks with pianos or jam bands like John Butler Trio for a few days. I gotta spice it up a bit.
And for the purposes of this thread, I'd like to point out that Snoop's Doggystyle and Dre's The Chronic are both classics! I love those two. What came after, however, is all different degrees of meh to .
