Anyone heard Razorback? Outstanding band. The members are in—or have been in—a lot of well-known bands, but Razorback seems to be relatively unknown. Stefan Berggren sounds a lot like Dio, too, which can't hurt.

Though more towards the pop side of melodic hard rock there is Khymera. The first album is not one I have but had Kansas vocalis Steve Walsh. The second one, the one I recomend is A New Promise and features on vocals Dennis Ward long-time founding member and bassist of Pink Cream 69. I don't know anything about PC69 (I've been meaning to check them out) but I do know they went through vocalists like water. After hearing Ward's vocals on this it makes one wonder why he never took over because he is GOOD. Aparantly they have a new album (I MUST get it) and samples of it and the one I have can be heard here:

EMPIRE is a great melodic hard rock band, they have a new album out with Doogie White on vocals. I also think the latest Cornerstone is awesome
Is this the same Empire that has featured variously Tony Martin, Mark Boals, and Lance King on vocals in the past?

That's progressive metal, bro. No way is that melodic hard rock. Awesome album, though.

Yes it is! They have a new album out now, called Chasing Shadows. The lineup on this is: Rolf Munkes, Doogie White, Neil Murray and Mike Terrana (busy man)

To follow up, here's a link to Sandalinas (a band I mentioned earlier):
And Khymera rules!! The one w/ Walsh is good, but the ones after it are better IMO...

What about Ten? They have a great melodic rock/metal sound.
Their last few are just outstanding!

Sandalinas is great. Their last CD is available on CD Baby for $5. Highly recommended. Empire's Hypnotica is also $5, with bonus tracks.

Hey! How bout some sensitivity to my "Genre Confusion", it's officially a clinical condition now you know. I thought you were gonna point out that I got two of the four words in the title wrong. I just listed it because I think people who like melodic would like it (and I did qualify it as borderline). It's plenty melodic. Just for you I'm now going to put Charon "Songs for the Sinners" on my melodic metal playlist. Because... 1. It's melodic and it has power, I don't think it will sound too out of place there. If I put it there I'll hear it a lot in the random mix. 2. It's one of the best albums I've ever heard, on my desert island short list now. 3. You might lose sleep over knowing that I put it there!
