| Yeah I already watched Puppy Bowl XVI. I'll flip over again at halftime. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Damn it! With the SB being in Miami I thought we'd be spared that stupid chant. No such luck. If they start that crap during the game I'll have no choice but to root for SF. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I have no problem watching a Super Bowl, but once those stupid halftime shows begin, I change the channel. Overlong crappy shows. I am currently watching Forensic Files until the second half. | |

| Somehow the Chiefs pulled it off. My wife is missed because she had the winning numbers in the block pool until the Chiefs scored that late touchdown. | |

| That was the only game I watched all year. Good game, and I'm glad the Chiefs won, but I'm still done with the NFL. XFL is starting up Saturday, really excited about that. | |

And St. Louis actually has a team in that league (albeit one with a stupid name) so I'm curious to see what it's like too. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Watched several XFL games over the weekend including the STL Battlehawks.
The football on display wasn't terrible but also wasn't NFL caliber; I'd put it somewhere between college football and the NFL.
But like the last time the XFL existed, I can see the NFL adopting some of the stuff this version of the XFL is doing. Most notably the way they show how the replay officials decide plays. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| ^^^ I watched just a bit of the NFL too. Like you, I feel the play isn't quite NFL caliber, but good enough to watch. I like the extra point rules they've instituted. | |

I had a very similar experience/opinion watching. I really like a lot of the new rules/innovations, and I agree I can see the NFL adopting them. I especially like the KO set up, which would allow the NFL to keep kickoffs and make them much safer. | |

| I wasn't sure where to put this but I decided on this thread since it's "sort of" sports-related.
After watching various XFL game today I switched over to Fox to watch their live PBC Boxing from Nashville tonight. In the open they actually referenced "Obie's Pizza" which to this day is the best pizza I've ever had. I lived about 25 miles from Nashville from 1982 - 1987. Nice to know Obie's is still going strong; OMG, that pizza was SOOOOOOOO goooood!!!! _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| STL Battlehawks @ Houston Roughnecks
You know, originally I absolutely hated the name of STL's new XFL team but given some of the other ones I've seen since I started watching games (Defenders, Guardians, Roughnecks, etc.) "Battlehawks" doesn't seem so bad. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Prelims to the Wilder/Fury fight.
Just out of curiosity I checked how much they want for the main event on PPV. 79.99! Seriously? No way I'm paying that for something that could last 30 seconds; hell, I wouldn't pay that even if it went the distance. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I'm watching LIVE UFC fighting on ESPN!!! This is probably the last live sporting event I'll see for who knows how long. It's coming from Brazil and the only people in attendance are associated with the fighters. Normally this would have been on ESPN's pay internet service only but I guess they are so desperate for programming that ESPN decided to "give it away" on their regular channel.
I for one am extremely glad they did because I already hate "life without sports". I'm going to end up like FF and watch lame-o movies for the next 6 months I'm afraid. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Damn! The UFC main event on ESPN just ended. So after watching over 5 hours of UFC fighting, now what?
Bring on the "lame-o movies". That puzzle I finished today made me realize how many of the crappy 50s horror and sci-fi movies I actually own so I might as well start watching them again now that sports is on a looooong hiatus. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Since we really don't have any sports to watch I thought I'd put this tidbit I just found out here.
The quarterback of the XFL's St. Louis Battlehawks has been selected by the Kansas City Chiefs to report to camp and compete for the position as backup to Patrick Mahomes.
I think that's a great sign for the XFL league because it means NFL scouts are paying attention. Do well and you might have a shot in the NFL. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Baseball, baseball and more baseball.
It's surreal though. Today's Cardinal game at least sounded real until you saw there was no crowd but at least the noise being piped into the stadium followed the action closely (i.e., cheers when something good happened for St. Louis); they even had the organ going (not sure if that was fake or real). But now they need to pipe in boos. Maybe not when the ump obviously blows a call but if an opposing player starts showboating or complaining about a call or something.
But I'm having a hard time getting into this abbreviated and bastardized version of a baseball season. I mean, the DH in the NL? Automatic man on 2nd in extra innings? Bleccch!!!!
I guess the DH was inevitable and I can live with that but I absolutely HATE the automatic man on second rule.
Oh, and today the Cardinals bombed the Pirates 9-1. St. Louis is 2-0 so far. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Yep, one thing in MLB remains a constant; it's really hard to sweep a team. Cards had nothing today. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
