| Same here. Good pitching duel today and miraculously the Cardinal pen held on to it. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Typical Pirates. They make two buzz worthy trades and get the fan base all wound up. The Cards come to town for an important series so what do they do? Lose 2 of 3 and have the Cards leapfrog them in the standings. Hell, they looked half asleep today and things are really bad when you pin your hopes on Sean Rodriquez (with a pitiful .164 average) with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th. | |

| Yeah that struck me too.
You're down by 1 run with two outs in the bottom of the 9th and Sean Rodriguez is your guy? I mean, he does have a history of burning St. Louis but as you say, he's hitting .164.
I would be more concerned about Archer though. Hopefully that start Friday was just a blip before Searage can get hold of him and straighten him out. I have a lot of respect for Ray Searage; he's a lot like the "pitcher whisperer" Dave Duncan was for the LaRussa-era Cards. He has a way of taking guys who are struggling and turning them around. Obviously he hadn't had much time to work with Archer before that start on Friday so hopefully that's just a glitch. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Rodriguez is half the player he used to be. His hitting and fielding have really gone downhill.
And I hope that was just a blip for Archer. I lol forward to his next start to see.

| Watching the STL/FL game.
We lost 2-1 last night and are trailing 2-0 in the 7th tonight.
Typical Cardinals, make nothing pitchers look like Nolan Ryan.
AND...as I was typing that, DeJong just hit a two run shot to tie it up. But we're still making these Marlins pitchers look like Cy Young material. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Carpenter just hit HR 30 in the 8th.
This guy is unbelievable. He was hitting .140 in the middle of May and now he leads the NL in homers. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Looks like the Pirates won today.
I was watching the game against the Rockies until the local news started. Archer looked much better than he did against STL. And the HR he gave up happened after his life probably flashed before his eyes when DJ Lemahieu hit a screamer that just missed Archer's head so that's probably forgivable. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Yeah since it was a day game I was only able to catch the last 2 innings of that game so I missed Archer pitching. It was good to get the win. They next to to San Francisco so I probably won't be seeing to much baseball due to late games. | |

| I hate West Coast swings!
Trust me, today Archer looked much more like the pitcher the Pirates thought they were getting. And it was against the Rockies in their home park. Yeah the Rockies are slumping but they are still a good offensive team so Archer's outing was impressive. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Watching the Cards vs Marlins.
STL is starting John Gant, yet another pitcher who should be at AAA but has been called up due to all the injuries to the staring staff. So far it's 1-1 in the 4th.
Holy crap! Carpenter hit his 31st homer in the 6th. How HOT is that guy's bat???? I've never seen anything like this; and he was hitting .146 with 3 HR on May 15. Now he leads the NL in HR, doubles, slugging percentage and a ton of other categories. Cardinal announcers keep saying if there was an award for "Comeback Player Of The Year" within the same year Carpenter would win hands down. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Cards ended up winning 7-1.
I can't place my finger on it but this team seems "different" since Matheny was fired and the bullpen was cleansed. Maybe it's the combination of knowing Matheny would keep going to the same guys out of the pen, firing Matheny and then losing most of those pen guys.
Whatever it is, STL seems much more "motivated" these days. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Watching the Cardinals try to sweep the Royals. They're up 5-2 going to the 9th. Tyson Ross who STL claimed off waivers from the Padres a few days ago made a spot start in place of Luke Weaver who cut his hand on a tray. Ross looked good going 6 and allowing 2 runs on 4 hits. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Watched STL win their 6th game in a row last night with a walkoff HR in the 9th. Matt Carpenter also hit his 33rd homer of the year.
I don't know if it's the new manager or gutting the bullpen or playing all the young guys or some combination of all three but this team is playing a lot better lately. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| The Pirates have had a rather stagnant offense lately , scoring 0 runs in back to back games against the Cubs. Too bad because the Pirate's pitching has been stellar, only giving up one run in both games. | |

No they lost both Thursday and Friday 1-0 to the Cubs. They beat them last nigh 3-1. They are currently tied 1-1 in the top of the 11th.

| Cards lost 2-1 to the Brewers today but that's still the 7th consecutive series they've won.
STL has won 10 of their last 12 games and the only two they lost were 5-4 to the Cubs and 2-1 to the Brewers. That's a whooooooole lot better than they'd been playing under Matheny's "leadership". _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
