| I watched the first few innings of the Cardinals @ LA last night. It was 1-0 STL when I went to bed.
I woke up this morning to find the Cardinals hit back to back HRs off Kenley Jensen in the 9th to win 5-3. I sort of feel bad for Jensen given he was fresh off the DL with heart problem and we treated him like that. But not TOO bad...
The NL wild card is a real CF right now with something like 5 or 6 teams within a few games of each other right now. But screw that, STL is only 3 1/2 games behind the Cubs for the division.
And today we got Matt Adams back from the Nats. If that's going to be a platoon at 1B for the rest of the year Adams and Jose Martinez have 33 HR between them so I'm OK with that.
Of course the Maddons picked up Daniel Murphy from the apparent Nats fire sale and I'm NOT OK with that. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| The whole NL is crazy this season! I am not sure if i'll make it to the end with how close my division is in the west. Top 3 teams within a couple games, and all next month we are playing each other plus other top contenders from other divisions. Playoffs have started for the NL and it's still august lol
EDIT: Look again, the Cards are only 2.5 games out of first. I hate that, because we always have a hard time with them, but usually can handle the Cubs lol
Go D-Backs! | |

| That's 8 consecutive series wins for STL. The turnaround of this team has been amazing. We have 3 rookies, an ex-Japanese league player and TBD in the starting rotation, Carlos Martinez and Adam Wainwright coming out of the bullpen and Matt Carpenter leading the NL in homeruns. Who saw any of THAT coming???? _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Yeah and that was the Cardinals' first sweep in LA since 2006. We usually get clobbered at Chavez Ravine. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

That weak Dodger bullpen helped with that. | |

| I know all about weak bullpens. We had one all year until management cleared it out when they fired Matheny. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Holy crap!
This game was 7-0 STL a few minutes ago. Now it's 7-5 in the 5th. Sure didn't see that coming especially with Miles Mikolas ptching. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Last night I watched a weird game between the Cardinals and Rockies. It was 0-0 after 7 innings. The final was 9-1 Rockies. Talk about a bullpen imploding, sheesh.
But so far today the Cards are returning the favor; it's 10-2 in the 4th. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Watched the Cardinals press conference announcing Mike Shildt is no longer the "interim" manager of the team; he's got a 3 year contract.
Good for him because he's paid his dues. He's been in the Cardinal system since 2004 and has managed at multiple levels of the Cardinals farm system for years. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Watching the Tigers @ Yankees and this is the first time I've seen McCutcheon since the Yankees acquired him earlier this week. He looks completely different. The Yankees have the "no facial hair and no long hair" rule so he's had to shave and lose the dreadlocks. I wouldn't even have recognized him if the announcers hadn't said who he was. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Well the Cardinals hot streak is apparently over. They've coughed up the last two games late and are currently in the process of coughing up a 4-0 lead in the 5th.
I was wondering when this "youth movement" would rear its ugly head. Although the last two blown games are on Bud Norris. Not this one though. But inevitably when you have so many young players on your team it's going to catch up to you. And we're starting a BOATLOAD of 25 or younger players all over the diamond but especially in starting and relief pitching. Good grief we've already walked 16 Nats in two games! If that's not a sign of pitching youth I don't know what is. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
