| I can't say I'm much of a beer drinker, but when I drink, I try and get some tasty ones. I always have a few stocked away. Tonight it's:
Baltika 6 Porter
http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/baltika-6-porter/6110/
It was a bit of a disappointment. Maybe I had it too cold (fridge temperature). Milder in flavour than what I expected, but the alcohol still didn't shine through too much. Well balanced. A bit sweet. | |

| I knew this new beer place was going to cost me big bucks.
I went there Saturday and picked up a case of Schlafly's Pumpkin Ale (it's now no longer available anywhere else), a sixer of New Holland Brewery's "The Poet" (an oatmeal stout) and a sixer of Left Hand Brewery's Milk Stout. Total damage with tax was about $60. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| 'Tis the season for a favorite of mine. Any of you in the Great Lakes area that can get Great Lakes Brewery Christmas Ale, it is wonderful stuff! Also, I am rather happy that Yuengling is now available in Ohio. I know its a basic beer, but its a good basic beer, and I can now buy it locally instead of waiting until I go to visit family in Pennsylvania. | |

| Had a coupla' pints of HC Andersen Beer - It was 9% ABV, and tasted quite nice - it had a sweetness to it (maybe 'cause it was brewed with corn) that balanced out the strength of the ale - and you really get a quick, unexpected buzz 'cause you drink it just as fast as a regular beer, it's just twice as strong! | |

Yeah, Fat Tire is pretty good. There are several places around here that have it on tap. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| BUMP! I've been tasting lotsa' danish micro-brews lately and damn there are some fine ones out there! Pretty useless to tell you guys about them, since you'll never be able to get them! Anyway, after despising it for so many years and staying as far away from it as I possibly can, I decided to give "Tuborg Green" another chance - now, Tuborg is a danish brewery that has been around for a long time, but has been owned by the Carlsberg company since the mid- 1970's - Their "Tuborg Classic" is really good - we have two varieties of pilsner here in europe, "classic" and normal "pilsner" - the "classic" variety is darker and more malty than the traditional pilsner. Now, onto Tuborg Green - It really is piss! It's colour is as thin and light as my morning urin, and the taste is just watery and bland - so if you ever come across this "beer" at the import section, DO NOT buy it! It really shouldn't be considered a standard danish beer, 'cause it really isn't. Okay, if you have it either from tap or bottle IN DENMARK, it will taste pretty decent - but as far as I know, the version you guys get is brewed in Turkey, under the supervision of Carlsberg - And I've always said, that if it ain't brewed in it's home country, it ain't the real deal. But the can version is simply awful. All right, enough of my half-buzzed rant. Let's talk beer! | |

| Tonight's beer of choice is Goose Island India Pale Ale. I love this beer. I got a couple tonight to accompany the Blackhawks game. Rich and fruity. The smell is the best of any beer. http://www.ratebeer.com/Ratings/Beer/Beer-Ratings.asp?BeerID=814 | |

| Had a pint of that sweet HC Andersen beer I've been talking so much about - it really has become a favourite of mine - It's a bit more "delicate" than other very strong danish beers, as those are usually associated with alcoholics (Carlsberg's "Master Brew" 10% really hit home with the town drunks, considering it's high alcohol content and, for the most part, bargain price), this beer really only targets a small amount of people - I wouldn't know who those people are, as I am the only one I know of who drinks this beer - but it's damn good! Also having some Sam Adams Honey Porter to finish things off nicely. | |

| Since this new beer place opened up, I've actually created a "beer cellar" in my basement. Right now I have some Schlafly's Pumpkin Ale, New Holland's Dragon's Milk, Left Hand Milk Stout and Holy Grail Ale down there.
My new beer project is going to be a taste test between various black lagers. I'm going to the beer store tomorrow looking to pick up some Sam Adams Black Lager, Magic Hat Black Lager and any other brand I can test with the Shiner I bought today. I'm going to do one of those "mix n match" six packs they let you put together. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
