Beer!

New beer store in my town has it! Picked up two 4 packs last night.

still no beer in my house...

I am really, really, really hoping that a friend of mine picked up six-packs of New Glarus Brewery's Spotted Cow, Fat Squirrel, and Staghorn Oktoberfest for me on his trip to Madison. Only a few days until I find out.

This is another one I've really been enjoying lately. It's almost like a liquid Hershey bar. From Left Hand Brewing Co.

Picked up a sixer of this stuff

a local brewery in my new residence. 8.85 % alcohol by volume! I was trashed after three!

Yeah, that's what I'm discovering with these new beers I've been sampling. The higher ABV percentage sneaks up on you.

Oh yeah, yesterday I picked up a seasonal variety pack by Magic Hat Brewery called (appropriately enough) "Night Of The Living Dead". Features 3 bottles of 4 different ales. So far the only one I don't care for is their IPA; I generally don't like real "hoppy" beers.

I also picked up a pint of "Arrogant Bastard Ale" which I didn't care for too much.

I hope you're not an IPA man. This is about as far away from an IPA as you can get.

BTW, I found out there's a place around here that has Left Hand's Milk Stout AND Dragon's Milk ON TAP (when DM is in season). I need to find me a designated driver fast!

What exactly do you mean when you say "hoppy"? - People have different views on it's definition, that's why I ask.

India Pale Ales. To me, they're all hoppy. They have that fruity aroma and a bitter finish. That's what I dislike in a beer. I've been told that black IPAs don't have the same taste because the malts offset the hops but I've never had one so I don't know.

Ahh, I see what you mean - I can drink hoppy beers just fine, depends on what mood I am in - my favourite beers, though, are the ones largely flavoured by malt and maize - now those ingredients result in fantastic beer!

I've learned that malts are the primary ingredient in determining beers I like. The more, the better.
