One day last summer, I was bored out of mind and I had the weekend off. The weather was absolute garbage and I needed to get connected with a new show via HBO and chrome cast. I thought, what the hell. Needless to say, I blew through five seasons in about two weeks. I still hate the time period, but I almost forget this about the show. It's one of the best shows that I've ever had the pleasure of watching. The characters are multi-dimensional and they evolve in ways that I have never witnessed. The story lines are rich and the pacing is to my liking. Even though I love the violent nature of this show, I get off on the emotional catharsis that all characters have experienced. This show is tragic in every sense of the word and spares no one. Why/what about the time period do you hate? I'm a rabid fan of the books...I NEED Martin to finish before he dies. At first I didn't like it when the show strayed from the book(s) but now I'm just going to think of them as two separate things. I do think that resurrecting Snow was a little "wandy" but since the resurrection over and over of Beric Dondarion was established early on, at least there was precedent. Besides, it's A Song of Ice and Fire...Jon SNOW has to live and mate with (his cousin/sister?) Danerys to rule the World.

Well, that's where the story is supposedly going. King Jon (ice) and Queen Daenerys (fire). Whether that's true and just how long it will take to happen is anyone's guess. Including George RR Martin's. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | LOL yeah, but if Jon is half targareyn then he will have Fire and Ice as a whole... I know in the books there was another Targareyn which the show seems to omitted like Lady Stoneheart

I don't read the books, but it's my understanding that after this season, the writing of the show will be taken over by HBO writers with George's guidance, since he's not finished the books yet. They could, in theory, go in a totally different direction than the path the books might follow. The tv show has taken many liberties already to suit the needs of the tv show, so who knows what characters or story lines they may omit or change once HBO gets more creative control. It wouldn't surprise me if they already mapped-out a general time frame of when the show could conceivably end. While extremely popular, HBO has frequently commented how expensive it is to produce the show. They could, again in theory, wrap up everything in a nice little package within 2 or 3 more seasons. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. I've never been fan of anything medieval in nature. Those same friends who were preaching G.O.T. to me, are also huge Lord of the Rings fans, which do absolutely nothing for me. I suppose, I thought the show would pattern itself like L.O.T.R. Thank God it doesn't! From a human nature stand point, it's so much better. The other thing that worried me about G.O.T. was the dragon/white walkers/witchery. I like human drama, but they've used these other entities to my liking.

I want to know what happened to Benjen Stark he's been gone since season 1 I've got to believe that if he's still alive, Meera and Bran are going to need his help escaping the White Walkers. If that doesn't happen, I think we will see that we will see him riding beside the Night King and it will crush Jon when he has to kill him. Hopefully he's still very much alive...

| The actor who plays Benjen Stark is in the next episode, credited as Brother Beyond The Wall. This season is kickass! Buuut! I didn't need an origin story for Hodor. I have always found the answer 'cause hodor' to be perfectly acceptable.

That's what I'm getting at, I liked the fact that nobody knew why. Also apologies for my misspelling of the mighty Hodor!

| Yeah, I didn't like the Hodor thing either. I thought it was silly, and a waste of precious screen time. It seemed enough to think/believe he got kicked in the head as a stable boy, or was simply born simple. | |

I agree. If this is a once-off of Bran affecting the past then I don't see the point, and if it's not then that's something I'm not particularly keen on as I don't think the show needs to introduce time travel shenanigans.

I think the fire and ice works on multiple levels. One is Jon, as so much is pointing to him being half-Stark, half-Targaryen (and I wish they'd just get that reveal out of the way); another fire/ice combination could the dragons and the White Walkers, and it wouldn't surprise me if that's how the Walkers are defeated. What also wouldn't surprise me is Jon taking the Iron Throne, with Daenerys returning to Mereen to fight slavery, along with Tyrion as her advisor as that's the one place where he's been given the chance to show what he can do. Meanwhile, Sansa - the ice to Daenerys's fire - could become Warden of the North, and I have really no idea how all of the other dangling plot threads like Arya, Dorne, and Yara/Theon should be tied up. Although it probably will involve a lot of people dying.

| I suspect theyre going to kill Rikon off, he really has no plot or storyline.
I like they revealed what happened to Benjen and I think hes the new "hodor" in the way that he will protect Bran. maybe even a reunion of sorts with Jon and Sansa
I think the dragons will have a part in defeating the white walkers. So far we know that dragonglass created them and can kill them, as does Valaryian Steel. Could be maybe Jon and Daenerys will rule the 7 kingdoms together who knows. I do think that the Warden of the North will return to the Stark line. As a Stark will always be at Winterfell (maybe Sansa)
Arya's story has taken a twist as I suspect she is on the outs with the faceless men curious to see where that goes, I also wonder if they will reveal a cure against the greyscale infection. I really do love this series. I dare say more than Lord of the Rings. Though I still dig them too
