| The pathetic Pirates slept through today's game and lost 10-0. Just plain awful. I was looking forward to tomorrow's game. Now,not so much. | |

| You'll be fine. Wainwright is pitching. He hasn't won in 8 straight starts and finished August with an ERA over 7.00 for the month. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| What an unbelievable catch by Kolten Wong.
I don't know where your seats are for this game 007 but the home plate umpire has really sucked. But at least he's sucking for both sides. The guy is 6'7" and the Cardinal announcers are speculating that he can't crouch low enough behind home plate to see low strikes. Neither side has been getting low strikes and the FoxTrax box has shown the pitches were clearly strikes. But as I said, he's doing it for both sides at least. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Wow, Pirates fans are really booing. If it comes across that much on TV it must be really loud there in person.
EDIT: See even with at 10-2 lead I'm still not comfortable. A) Wainwright has sucked and B) so has the bullpen.
And now it's 10-4. And Stephen Piscotty was removed for "precautionary reasons". Please tell me the Cards don't lose another guy due to a HBP. It's already cost us Aledmys Diaz and Matt Holliday. None of them have been on purpose but that doesn't make it feel any better.
EDIT2: OH NO!!!! FATBOY BROXTON is in the game!!!. Final score: Cardinals-10, Pirates-9.
EDIT3: OK, time to get into the underground bunkers because the end of days is upon us. Fatboy threw 2 scoreless innings. That can only mean the world is ending. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Sorry 007.
Our bullpen tried to give this game away to the Pirates but unfortunately for you, your bullpen appears to be just as bad. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Yeah that was brutal. I can't believe I wasted the majority of my Labor Day at that game. They really look like a team that has given up. Thankfully football starts up next weekend. | |

| Yeah, I already know the Cardinals aren't going anywhere in the post-season if they get there so I've already started following college football.
Since we have two ranked teams playing tonight no matter who wins it will mean 7 ranked teams have lost in the first week. I forget how long ESPN said it's been since that's happened. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Just about ready to watch game 2 of the Cards/Pirates series.
The Cards are starting Luke Weaver. He's making his 4th MLB start after being called up to take Wacha's place in the starting rotation. I sure hope the Pirates have the same struggles the Cardinals do when facing a young pitcher they've never seen before. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I almost went to bed after I flipped back over to the Cardinal game after Smackdown went off the air. The Cards were down to their last out and Carpenter was pinch hitting. He was down 2 strikes but all of a sudden it's now 9-6 Cardinals.
They just said that before tonight Tony Watson had pitched 47 1/3 innings against St. Louis and allowed a total of 2 home runs during that stretch. He just allowed 3 HR in 2/3 innings tonight. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Watson is a terrible closer. The Pirates never should have gotten rid of Melancon. Melancon had one blown save before the trade. Since then, this was Watson's 3rd or 4th I believe. | |

| Getting ready to watch the final game in the Cards/Pirates series.
You got this one 007.
A) The Cardinals have had about half a dozen cracks at 10 games over .500 this year and lost every time. B) Mike Leake is "iffy" at his best but now he's coming off the 15 day DL after a case of shingles so I anticipate major suckage. C) The Bucs have to be pissed about the way they lost last night. I expect the Cards to get blown out tonight. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Well, we'll see. Taillon pitches for the Bugs tonight and he's done rather well so far. I'm cautiously optimistic. 😄 | |

| What's amazing to me is that there's a grand total of 1 game separating the first three teams in the race for both the first and second wild cards in the NL. And even with losing 8 straight the Bucs are only 5.5 out and Miami is only 6 out.
Granted with so many teams in the race it's a steep uphill climb for Pittsburgh and Miami but if you lose 8 games in a row this late in the season that's supposed to be the death knell. But no one wants to win the wild cards apparently so it's still pretty wide open. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Yeah, he's a lot wilder than I remember in the other starts of his I've seen.
EDIT: He minimized the damage. Now comes Mike "Spring A" Leake. This has to be one of the most overpaid pitchers in the league. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Typical Leake start. Gives up a lot of hits and the defense plays like crap. He's already squandered the lead and it looks like it's getting worse pending the replay challenge. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Damage was minimal. Cervelli picked the wrong time to hit a grounder back to the pitcher. You can't squander chances like that against a team like the Cardinals. | |

| Wow, last night was just not Watson's night.
The STL announcers just said that before Molina's double in the 9th last night he'd been 0-91 against Watson. I guess that's the "due factor". _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| So it's going to be one of those kind of games apparently. Battle of the bullpens.
It's taken Taillon 35 pitches to record three outs. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Such a gorgeous park. They were just showing some scenes around the stadium including the Roberto Clemente statue. I'd love to see PNC Park some day. I have an old college roommate who lives in Greenville. I visited him once and we went to Three Rivers for a Pirates/Cards game. Maybe I'll pay him another visit and we can catch a Pirates/Cards game at PNC. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| It is a great park. I've been all over that place save for the lower levels and there really isn't a bad seat in the park. | |
