| The only downside of my last trip to Pittsburgh about 15-20 years ago was that I had to drink IC Lite. . Stupid PA State Store rules. But with the explosion of craft brewing since then I bet I could find a local beer I like. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Yeah our archaic liquor laws suck here. We do have some good local breweries though. | |

| If Alex Reyes ever learns how to "pitch" instead of just "throw" he's going to be dynamite in the rotation.
Couple a 100mph fastball with some kind of offspeed pitch thrown for strikes and he'd be virtually unhittable. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| That is interesting to see that they let Reyes bat. Quite a difference between Hurdle and Matheny. No way would Hurdle let a pitcher hit in that situation. And it works for the Cards not surprisingly. | |

| They want to see what he can do in long relief, especially since everyone else we've tried in that role has royally sucked. We need somebody to bridge to Siegrist and Oh. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Goodgod has McCutchen looked awful this year. He either strikes out or pops up. One of the many reasons for the Pirates mediocrity. | |

| Yeah, McCutchen's downfall this year is dumbfounding. What the hell happened to him? He was one of my favorite Pirates too. Good guy; didn't he win the Clemente Award last year?
Wainwright is the Cards' nominee for that award this year. He actually goes to villages in Africa to help build wells to provide clean water. He's not one of these guys who just throws money at a cause; he actually gets his hands dirty. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Hung on this time.
I swear, Kang is the second coming of Pedro Alvarez. Alvarez could be having the worst season of his career but he'd still kill the Cardinals.
HAHAHA! I'm watching the post-game show and the first thing they said was that Kang is turning into the new Cardinal Killer. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Yeah it was nice to finally get a win. And I said to my wife that Kang seems to always kick it up a notch against the Cards. I know he has at least 5 homers against them this season. | |

| I watched the Cardinals continue to blow chunks at home. They have the best road record in baseball but for some mysterious reason they're 8 games under .500 at home. Brewers clobbered them 12-5. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Watching the Cardinals try to stay ahead of the Brewers.
I don't know who lit a fire under Milwaukee but they've been playing much better for about the last 3 weeks. They jumped out to a 3-0 lead on Carlos Martinez tonight but two 2 run homers by the Cards in the third put STL in front 4-3 and that's where it stands now going to the bottom of the fourth. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Frustrating loss for the Pirates tonight. 1 for 11 with runners in scoring position, grounding out into 4 double plays, 2 pick offs, they just looked plain awful. | |

| Looks like Wainwright might be back on track. Granted it was only against the Brewers but he only allowed 1 run over 8 innings. Cards rallied with 5 in the 8th for a 5-1 win. I see the Mets lost so STL is back in the 2nd wild card slot.
Both leagues really have a scramble going on for the wild card positions. I was against the whole idea of the wild card at first but I have to admit the concept has made September games a lot more interesting for a lot of teams. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| They have to get there first. There's 1/2 game separating the Giants, the Cards and the Mets and one of those teams will be on the outside looking in.
The AL is really crazy. Seven (!) teams are separated by a total of 4 games for the two AL wild card spots. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| The AL actually has 3 spots available because three of the teams in the wild card race are from the AL East and one of them could actually win the division title. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
