From the Horror box set:
The Mad Monster (1942) - another George Zucco film, this one has him playing a mad scientist who develops a formula that turns his simple minded assistant (Glenn Strange) into a werewolf. He then uses his assistant as an instrument of revenge.
The Giant Gila Monster (1959) - hot rodders vs a giant monster. I saw this many moons ago and the only thing I could remember was the conclusion. Actually it wasn't too bad a film.
The Fata Hour (1940) - not a horror film but a mystery starring Boris Karloff as Chinese detective Mr. Wong investigating the murder of an undercover cop involved in the smuggling of jade.

My son (six) sat down with me to see Close Encounters if the Third Kind. He never lost interest. On fact, the look of awe and amazement in his face took me back to my first time seeing it as a kid.
I forgot how perfect this film is despite its plot holes. Great acting, FX, lighting, framing, staging, pacing, humor, and of course music. Simply a wonderful film.

SyFy kicked off their "Sharknado Week 2015" fest last night with this pair of cheap-O's...
"RoboShark" (2015)
An alien intelligence crash-lands in the ocean near Seattle and is swallowed by a passing shark...which turns into a metallic robotic creature that can not only attack on land OR at sea, but also understands the value of ... social media. WTF? This dumb-as-a-stump attempt at campy comedy horror has its tongue stuck WAY too far into its cheek. Don't even get me started on the terrible, mugging acting or the ultra cheap CGI effects. Even by SyFy's paltry standards, this one sucked.
"Mega Shark vs. Kolossus" (2015)
Now THIS is more like it! Our friends at the Asylum know how to make a disaster epic on a cheese and crackers budget! When a new Megalodon menaces the Earth's oceans the only thing big enough to fight it is Kolossus - a giant, super powered Russian robot left over from a top secret Cold War project. Much blasting, zapping and chomping ensues.

Frontier(s)
I hate movies where the "heroes/heroines" are as unlikeable as the villains. I actually found myself rooting for these hoodlums to die.

I don't understand the attraction of "superhero" movies in general and the Marvel movies in particular but I have to admit the trailers for this one have me interested in Antman.

I love this movie because it refers back to one of the touchstone episodes of the original series.

MLB Network
It was hilarious because they had Hank Azaria on and he was voicing highlights in the voices of Apu, Chief Wiggum and Moe from The Simpsons. Funny stuff!
Like this: *Moe voice* "Dare yas go, ground bawl right to the first baseman. Awwww geez, he messed dat up."
(This is a "hybrid" sports/TV post and I decided to put it here.)
