COMP SWAP 2014

I started this about 10 years ago, but have not been involved in years.  I nominate DallasBlack to be commissioner this year.  Anyone second?

Can you do this just via email? like swaping files??

I'd be down to participate again.

Both years in a row that I've done this, the dudes I sent comps to never reviewed them, which always kinda bummed me out.

But I got to check out a lot of cool bands both times around, so it's certainly worth it.

The number of reviewed ones is usually significantly lower than the amount of participants I'm in with my USPM, if anyone wants.

I missed this last year as I was still lurking and not a registered member. Not sure I'd be down to curate the thing, but I'd be very interested in doing a comp swap.

Only two things from my end and if either disqualify me, let me know and I'll bow out:

1.) I'd prefer to swap physical discs rather than zipped files or whatever.
2.) My comps are probably going to be "metal plus" because I don't think I listen to enough DIFFERENT metal bands to fill a comp properly with that genre alone.

There are people who specify they want digital swaps, physical swaps or either way.

And there are no rules (that I am aware of) on what you put on your comps. My comps I made last year had like 2 metal songs on them. The ones I received were pretty varied too.

I'm game. Last year I got thrash from SSD; this year would be good to get some USPM. Of course, as I told SSD, what I have to offer is stuff you've probably already heard, but I'll try my best.

I guess I'd be in too if I get hooked up with a relative "newbie"; someone who hasn't already heard all of the "usual Toho crap".

I think Runicon and I might be a good pairing actually (hint, hint)

I will also add that I've bought at least one album by an artist on every single comp I've received (even the one from Harmonic Dissonance or whatever his now-banned handle was).  These things are great as long as you level the expectations.  I know some disagree and think they should just put their "favorites" on a comp but to me, if your "favorites" are all death metal, black metal and thrash, you're wasting your time and mine.  So I like to know something about the tastes of the person I'm swapping with.

I also like some brief notes.  Like if you include a killer song but it's the only decent thing the band ever did, I'd like to know that so I don't waste time trying to track down their stuff.

I haven't done one in years...I might be up for it.

Always wanted to do this but I don't have a burner plus most (if not all) of my stuff you all probably have.

I'm in. If anyone's keeping track, it's digital only for me.

Gotta sit this one out - don't have the time right between work and life....

I could participate as long as it is alright if I send mine out after 9/23, as I'll be traveling until then.

Should anyone be interested, my compilation would be comprised mostly of very obscure hair and sleaze rock from the 80's to the present, probably along with some AOR/melodic hard rock.

I'm interested in most genres in return. While I always prefer the above mentioned genres, I also enjoy thrash, classic metal, black metal and death metal from time to time.

I guess I could give my hand at organizing this one. Don't know how well you can do until you try, right?
