Got the first one because i liked Wait and Bleed, but nothing else really stood out (and Surfacing has one of the most laughable choruses ever IMO).

But I'm not gonna tell him what he can or can't listen to. Shoot, I was just a little bit older than him when I first discovered the Mentors and GWAR...talk about "don't let your Mom hear this!"
What, didn't you want your Mum to hear such classics as "Herpes Two" and "Golden Showers"?

Thankfully I have managed to keep my Mom - and now my wife - completely unaware of the Mentors' existence for lo, these many years now

Actually, if his mother is overprotective of him and what he can/can't listen to (you seem OK with it), Slipknot's album Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses has no swearing on it at all.

^^The man is right; Corey wanted to show the critics at the time that Slipknot could do an album of quality music without resorting to profanity. I think it actually helped them. It's really the most focused title in their discog.

Slipknot isn't all bad. They are a good gateway band for kids looking for heavier stuff.
I pulled out a couple of my old Metal Edge and Metal Maniacs magazines from when Slipknot first blew up for my son to check out. In one article the Clown guy (whatever his name is) apparently name dropped a bunch of bands that were his favorites growing up, like Death, Sepultura, Morbid Angel, etc.... so my son started checking some of them out via YouTube. The disease is already spreading.
Awesome!

Wait and Bleed isn't on the first one, it's on their second one. Of course their first one is impossible to find (or so I've been told) but they did have an album out before their self titled "first" album called Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.. I used to have a copy I downloaded off Napster way back when, but it wasn't very good IMO. Their self titled release was pretty damn good though, and for the time it came out I thought it was very refreshing and something new. I didn't care as much for Iowa, but Vol. 3 made up for it. Haven't listened to much after that though, except for a live DVD and CD I bought a while back.
Here is Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. if you've never heard it.

I dig some of their songs. Truthfully I would post this under "Let The Music Do The Talking"

Former Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison has passed away at the age of 46.
Geez, I was never much of a fan (my kids liked'em) but between Mike Howe and this, it's been a rough week for metal... and it's only Tuesday.

He died on the same day as Mike Howe and both passed in their sleep.
I wonder if they delayed the news of Joey because of Mike?

Supposedly Joey had drug issues. He denied it, said he had health issues, which was true, but the guys in Slipknot always alluded to him having more issues than that.
Bummer. I really dig Slipknot. I like all their albums, but that first one blew me away.

Sad news and he was my age. That’s way too young. I knew he had health problems but never expected this. R.I.P Joey.

Sad to see Joey passed. INCREDIBLY talented dude.
I also enjoyed Murderdolls. Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls was fun glam / sleaze inspired music with horror/slasher lyrics. Fun stuff
