More album details and pre-order options will be revealed on May 24, 2024. At the same time, a repress of the band's 2016-album, "Flotsam And Jetsam", will be issued as a strictly limited, Gatefold Clear 2-Vinyl!
(AFM Records) Flotsam and Jetsam - I Am the Weapon
It’s been almost 40 years since FLOTSAM AND JETSAM, formed in Phoenix, Arizona released their landmark debut, “Doomsday for the Deceiver,” the only album to ever receive a 6K rating from the influential British magazine Kerrang! Bassist Jason Newsted would jump ship to Metallica while the band released the unstoppable “No Place for Disgrace” in 1988. “Cuatro” (1992), “Drift” (1995), “High” (1997), and “My God” (2001) all still rank extremely high in heavy metal circles. But it was the first part of this unofficial trilogy in 2016’s self-titled “Flotsam and Jetsam” that a certain rejuvenation and reset was clearly felt.
Fast-forward five years to a planet that was forced to its knees. While spending most of the pandemic times in a holding pattern like the rest of the world, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM made the best of a struggling situation and just let those creative juices and angst flow. What emerged was the much-acclaimed “Blood in the Water", released in 2021 via AFM Records. Aside busy touring schedules (find all current & upcoming live dates at https://www.flotstildeath.com/tour), 2024 will see FLOTSAM AND JETSAM return with their thunderous, new studio album "I Am The Weapon"; watch out for more news and details to follow in the weeks ahead!

That's a pure power metal song.
Very different to the first cut.

Flotsam is top notch!
I like almost everything they’ve done.

I guess the price is jacked up because of the shitty economy and the lack of ticket sales on their last tour.
The band literally only makes money from merchandise.
I’m hesitant to pay $20 for a basic CD, but I will if I have to. I miss the days when a new album would be on sale for a discount at Best Buy or Tower records for the first week of release.
Flotsam has been on a musical winning streak since the lackluster album Ugly Noise. In my opinion they only have a few duds in their entire catalog. And those are: Unnatural Selection, Dreams of Death and Ugly Noise. But even on those I still like some of the songs! They just had bad production.
I like it. The songs are fast and powerful and really get the blood pumping

I heard the new album on YouTube (and of course I like it!)
But I still like Blood in the Water better.

Eric AK has still got it. The album is great. So far I like the middle tracks best, songs 6-9. That's a great run of exciting music, and you rarely hear quality like that "hidden" in running order.
After playing the album (and repeat playing those songs), I also discovered playing those four songs is the perfect length for my work commute, ~16 minutes, so I also blast them at the car now. Wakes me up as well as makes the drive to the office something to look forward to

Generally speaking, a “bad” Flotsam album is still miles better than most other younger metal bands nowadays.
A handful of old bands still making quality music:
Flotsam Overkill Prong Testament Megadeth Judas Priest Death Angel
