| I've never seen Silent Running but 2001 had phenomenal effects, especially considering the year. I'll have to catch Silent Running one of these nights;I beleive it's available on Netflix. | |

The effects on Silent Running don't hold up the same way as 2001, but the movie was made for a fraction of the budget and in about 1/3 the time so it's as good as could be done with what they had to work with. Still a thought-provoking film and worth watching. |

Yep, that's where I watched it last night. I've seen bits & parts of the movie over the years but I'm fairly sure I'd never seen the whole thing before last night. Cool flick. As for the special FX, they're not as good as "2001" of course but considering the time it was made, they ain't bad at all. I understand some of the exterior shots of the greenhouse "dome" ships were recycled for the Battlestar Galactica TV show in the late 70s. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| The World's End. Very enjoyable and funny, even if it certainly is the least of the trilogy. Also made me very, very thirsty. | |

| Casablanca (1942) - the classic Best Picture Oscar winner starring Humphrey Bogart. I've heard so many great things about this picture (word of mouth from family members, making all-time best movie lists, etc.) and I had never seen it until last night on TCM. I'm glad I did. I can see what all the hype was about. Very enjoyable. | |

Awesome! The more people see it the better. I still cry when it's over, and not because of any emotional resonance within the story, but because it's just so perfect a film that it becomes one of those rare times that I find complete satisfaction and fulfillment.

| Stargate SG-1- Season 9, disc 3.
These are the episodes I never saw; I stopped watching when Richard Dean Anderson and Don S Davis left. But I gotta admit, the Ori and their priors are a more intimidating enemy than the Goa'uld were. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| "Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus" (2011) - 2nd film in the Asylum's flagship series finds a US Navy shark expert (Jaleel "Urkel" White) and an Aussie croc-hunter being pressed into service by a top secret government monster-fighting squad whose mission, of course, is to kill the two title critters. Poorly CGI'd mayhem ensues in a film that appears to have been made up as it went along. Pretty weak, even by Asylum standards. It should be noted, however that my soon to be 7 year old son and my 11 year old niece thought it was "awesome." _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Finally got around to watching Silent Running. Not a bad film at all. I found it interesting in the way the drones were done (amputee actors). And...does Bruce Dern always play off their rocker characters? | |

Yes. Even going all the way back to "The Incredible 2-Headed Transplant" from 1971; which incidentally also features Pat (Marilyn Munster) Priest. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Never saw that one but I did catch the other one with Rosey Grier and Ray Milland many many moons ago. Dern has made a career out of playing slightly "out there" characters. Very good actor, he just found a niche…kind of like Dennis Hopper did. |

| "House" (1986) - Sean "Friday the 13th" Cunningham produced this cheesetastic comic horror flick about an author with writer's block who moves into his recently deceased aunt's house to work on his new book, where he experiences a whole lot of weird sh*t. Charmingly silly stuff.

| Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. - This show keeps getting better week by week, tonight's episode was especially badass. What I've seen over the past 2 or 3 episodes is that it's a much richer and complicated arc than it appeared on the surface. It's been a leisuraly, deliberate build but I think it was necessary to introduce the characters, get them functioning as a team and give the audience time to get to know them before diving headfirst into the larger Marvel universe. Now that the introductory phase is over and the Marvel crossover elements are ramping up I think it will feel like a busier, faster show and probably win over some of the viewers with short attention span issues. |

It does seem to be getting better since the Christmas break - I like the addition of Bill Paxton as a recurring character - great episode last night! I do need to find out what in the world that thing that was harvested was last night... any comic book fans out there know? Also watched The Walking Dead
