I tried Amorphis pale ale the other day:

Beer! - Page 30 Amorphis_Ale

Nice to have a "rock band" ale instead of lagers. Taste was real nice but basic APA style - quite strong and malty, with enough fresh fruity hops.

At least a hundred times better than that Nightwish beer...

Devil’s Teeth W/ Coffee. THIS is my kind of beer!

Oh wow!  Beer Advocate describes that as an old ale/imperial ale hybrid.  My two favorite styles of beer!  I bet I'd love that.

One reviewer says:

Quote :
Bought a bomber then immediately bought two more the next time I saw it. The fact that it is a stout/strong ale blend gives it a unique character that isn't found in your typical coffee stout. It has a sweetness to it similar to a milk stout and a ton of coffee. An excellent beer.

Have you ever had these:
North Coast Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout or Boulder Shake Chocolate Porter ? They serve those on Nitro at TFG.

I'm a big fan of Old Rasputin. Never heard of the other one though.

Tonight I'm enjoying Stone's Double Bastard In The Rye

A year ago I would have hated this but with my new-found appreciation for hops I'm loving this.

I think Stone and Founders are my two favorite brewers these days.

Trying out a new stout I got in a pick your own variety pack from Albertsons:

The smoothest stout I've had since Samuel Smith Chocolate Stout. Too bad it's seasonal, I could drink this often.

Hmmmm...I'm a fan of Magic Hat but I don't think I've seen that one.

Speaking of stouts, I picked up a 4pk of Southern Tier's "Choklat" the other day.  I like that they've made this available in 12oz bottles because the bomber size was a little too much to drink at one sitting.  This is still my go-to beer for chocolate stouts that still taste like a beer.  The Samuel Adams is great but I think it tastes too much like YooHoo and YooHoo is a lot cheaper.

That sombitch needs to lay off the beer, maybe drink the light beer. He's a big ol boy. He reminds me of some of the heffers that hang around at metal shows in the mid 40's!

I'm late posting these but here are some of me trying the different beers made in the DPRK when I was there this past summer. Basically there are two types of bottled beer (Ponghak and Taedonggang). Then there are several microbreweries in Pyongyang (Koryo Hotel; Yanggakdo Hotel; Paradise Microbrewery; and Taedonggang microbrewery). Not bad overall...definitely better than the South Korean options.

I'm still amazed how people can drink this. Tried it once and the taste reminded me of my favourite beer after you'd leave the bottle open for 3 days and drink it then. It's basically water with barely any taste in there, except the same albeit not as strong weird chemical taste Miller has

Ding, ding, ding!!!!!

Although to be fair, the person who posted that was in-character as pro wrestling's Stone Cold Steve Austin who always drank "Steve-weisers".

But I totally agree. It's so refreshing to see the beer-drinking people of America finally embracing craft-brewed beers. That's why Anheuser Busch has started producing ads bragging about how their beer isn't for sipping and doesn't contain an unnecessary flavors.

Well, they're actually not lying. Budweiser contains the natural flavor of Clydesdale piss and it's not for sipping, it's for pouring down the drain. Laughing very hard

Trying some new bears out and only one was a drain pourer for me:

Beer! - Page 30 Oak-Highlands-Freaky-Deaky-Tripel-Can

I saw it was a Belgian Tripel so figured I'd give it a shot. I should have read the description: "Belgian brewed with American hops." Too bitter would have been an understatement, at least to my tastes. Tried to get past it, but after about 4 sips I was out.

I picked up this the same time I got that one:

Beer! - Page 30 Kentucky%20Pumpkin%20Barrel%20Aged%20Ale
https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/430/99058/

Finally found a pumpkin beer I like.

My next adventure moves on to cans made by a local Texas brewery. I got them from Albertson's create a sampler section. The first one was this:

Beer! - Page 30 BB-16oz-art
https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/22511/73553/

A smooth and tasty beer with a hint of sweetness. I could easily buy this one again.

Then I tried this one:

Beer! - Page 30 Bockslider-MainArt
https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/31272/171485/

The only bock I ever had was Shiner Bock. Didn't like it one bit, but this one was a most tasty brew.

I'd love to try that pumpkin beer.  I recently bought a variety pack of O'Fallon pumpkin beers with stuff like pumpkin vanilla ale, pumpkin latte and pumpkin peach beer.  No real drainpours in there but nothing that really wowed me either.  My two favorite pumpkin beers are still Schlafly's Pumpkin Ale and Crown Valley Pumpkin Imperial Stout.

Don't judge Bock beers by Shiner Bock.  Bocks are one of my favorite styles when done properly.  I like the slight sweetness to them.  Lately I've been digging Shmaltz brewery's "Bock Bock", it's a bourbon barrel-aged bock.  The bourbon barrel really impacts the bock taste so it's not really "bock-tasting".

Keep your eyes open for "doppelbocks" DB; I think you'd enjoy them. One of my favorites is Capital Brewery's Blonde Doppelbock. I can't get it here but fortunately I have a connection through work to a guy who goes back to Wisconsin all the time and I always have him bring me back a case of this seasonal brew when it's available. Troeg's "Troegenator" is another one that I really like and can't get here but the same guy who hooks me up with Capital's doppelbock goes back to PA where Troegenator is made so he always brings a case of that back for me.

Bought another one last weekend that I'm trying for the first time tonight. You might be interested in this one DB. It's a Belgian quadrupel (yes, that's how it's spelled) with chocolate and coffee added. I'm finding it quite tasty but at 11% ABV it's definitely a sipper.
