| After eating the best turkey I've ever cooked (I stuffed the cavity with sliced apples and oranges), I'm now enjoying dessert: _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| It's very, very sweet...you can't drink a whole lot of it. It really is a "dessert beer". I don't know if there is any still floating around or not; It's a seasonal (albeit one with a long "season") that comes out around April. There might be some still available in a mega-beer store somewhere. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Everyone following me on Facebook saw that I had my annual Christmas beer tasting party last night. I went through 8 or 9 different brands. 2 of them tasted crap but the rest of them were good. None of them had any wow factor though. _________________ | |

Never heard of Speedway Stout but that Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout is still the best oatmeal stout I've tasted; it's outstanding! BTW, the Sam Smith Chocolate Stout is great too. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

BTW, the Sam Smith Chocolate Stout is great too. The Alesmith Speedway Stout should be right up your alley, toho, it's a 12% ABV Imperial stout that gets huge ratings on beeradvocate.com. Definitely got all those big coffee, chocolate and malt notes that we both like.

| First sighting of the Schlafly/Culinaria Old Ale collaboration this year. This beer is only available at select stores of the largest grocery chain here so finding it is like a scavenger hunt. Last year I drove around to about 8 stores and ended up picking up 7 cases (I sold 3 to my fellow beer snob at work). It usually comes out the first week of December so I hit the store nearest me and scored a case of the 2013 version. But I hit 4 other stores and they didn't have it. I guess I know what I'm doing next Sunday; Scavenger Hunt!!!! _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Found another 12 bottles of Schlafly's Old Ale today so it's officially been distributed.
I'm taking tomorrow off to go on my "scavenger hunt". So far I've acquired 2 cases this year.
This is a fun thing I do every year. This beer is only distributed to one grocery chain and you never know which stores have even gotten any and/or how much they have. Sometimes you walk into a store and walk out dejected because they had nothing. Other times you walk in and see the bottles on the shelf and the "celestial choirs" kick in as you go get a cart and start loading up.
And after this week, the distribution is done so I have to round up as much as I can find (it ages very well in a "beer cellar"). _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

This one is barely distributed outside of the immediate St Louis area. But I checked and it's not available in my area. I can get it with about a 2 or 3 hour drive but that's not really feasible.

What a name! I'm pretty sure I've never seen that (I think I'd remember the Japanese-sounding name). I'll keep my eyes open. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| During my beer scavenger hunt I also came across this extremely rare seasonal beer from Founders, one of my favorite breweries. Of course, I picked up a case: _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
