| Tried this one: Better than the Rolle Bolle which never made it past the first sip, but after 3 drinks of it I found it too bitter. Luckily, I got a single bottle so no money was wasted, but this did not win me over. Must be the coriander. I replaced it with: | |

Yeah that one didn't do much for me either. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| So I came close to picking up some obligatory pumpkin brew tonight, but it had been so long... This has been my all-time favorite for a while now. Just a perfect, robust, malty beer all around. Pumpkin will be next week. | |

So how was it? Any interesting discoveries? yeah - stay as far away from the Shipyard Pumpkinhead as possible. I did like the Smuttynose and the Buffalo Bill. _________________

| Had a Fat Tire on tap today and while slightly better than from the bottle, didn't quite live up to the hype. Maybe it would be different if I have one of my more favorites on tap (any of the Unibrouges or New Belgian Abbey-neither avaliable in my area) it would be different. They would probably be available elsewhere in the U.S. but I can't drink on the road. | |

I did like the Smuttynose and the Buffalo Bill. I had the Buffalo Bill last year and I thought it was awful. A decent one I've found this year is Horny Goat Pumpkin Ale. It's not great but it's one of the better ones I've tried this year. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Pretty darn good Belgian with a darn high ABV content. Haven't seen that one but since it has "Noel" on the label I assume it's a Christmas Belgian. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

I think you'd like it. As a matter of fact, knowing your tastes in Belgians, I'm pretty sure you would.

| Tonight I'm having a Founders Porter while I'm letting a Capital Brewery Autumnal Fire chill.
I work with a guy who has Rams' season tickets next to a guy who's a big Wisconsin football fan. This guy goes back to WI for every WI home game. Fortunately, Capital Brewery is in Wisconsin and their season doppelbock "Autumnal Fire" is one of my favorites in the style. This past weekend, the guy went back to WI for the Ohio State/WI game and I ordered a case of Autumnal Fire which the guy I work with delivered today.
I can't wait to taste it! _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I've heard good things about that second one.
This whole "imperial pumpkin" thing is new to me this year. I picked up a case and a half of Crown Valley's Imperial Pumpkin Stout this week and I love it. You wouldn't think pumpkin would work in a stout but strangely, it does. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Its one only review but the Fin City got a good rating: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/29661/92925 Its brewed not too far from me so I figured I would give it a try. _________________

| That sounds good! I like the addition of vanilla; that's what the Crown Valley Imperial Pumpkin Smash does too.

http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/19832/98115 i saw a chocolate pumpkin ale but i didnt get it. It sounded interesting though. You wouldn't think that combination works but it does. In fact, my local beer place sold out of their initial stock of Imperial Pumpkin Smash and I had to keep calling to find out when it was back in stock. My beer-loving coworker was back in Pea-Ay last week and specifically asked me to pick up a case for him if it came in while he was gone. So right now I'm sitting on about 3 cases of the stuff. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
