| I just got a text from Pledge Music that Flotsam plan to re-record the No Place For Disgrace album. I'm all for it! But I am a bit concerned that Eric will not hit the classic high notes from the original... I know they don't own the rights to the album and had probably wanted to remix and remaster it for quite some time. This is apparently the only way for them to get control of their music again. | |

| I'm pledging and looking forward to it. From seeing them live earlier this year I know they can still play those songs great! | |

| Well this is the best way for them to get control of the rights of the album but I'm very skeptical about how it will turn out. You just can't touch greatness. | |

| I would guess that Raging Fear is tied up in major-label hell also, they'll probably want to re-record that one next.
Of course this should be rephrased as "the only way they can AFFORD to regain control of their music".

| It's Flots, so I will support it. However, I think it's a bad idea. There is no touching the original. It's a classic! _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| S.D. is confusing Flotsam & Jetsam with Armored Saint....I think? _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I don't think it's necessarily a bad idea, but i'd much rather have a new album from these guys. | |

| If you don't already own the original, it's easy to find online. Pass. _________________ | |

| I still think someone should remix/remaster the original.

| I can take it or leave it. I'm not a big fan of that album to begin with, so I'm not getting my feathers ruffled over the end result.
I understand the theory of re-recording albums to get back the rights, but is it worth it for smaller bands, like F&J, to go through the expense of recording and production? Are they gonna see that much of a return for their investment?
I see why a band like Def Leppard or KISS would do it because mainstream media will still use their songs and they'll still sell on itunes. But realistically speaking, how many re-records are Flots really gonna sell? _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| I own the original (and dig it), no need for a re-tread. Pass. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Highly doubtful. If there was any money to be made the original label would reissue it themselves. |

| They said they're doing it because fans have asked over the years for a remix/remaster. Whatever the reasons, they chose to re-record instead.

| I'd be happy with just a proper remix/remaster of the original, but they would need access to the master tapes. It's also too bad Iommi couldn't remix the Born Again album... Both are excellent records that suffer from poor production.

The multi-tracks are missing, the label has yet to find them. |

| I'm a huge fan of early Flots, so I'll be checking this out. I wonder if they plan to do the same thing with some of their other records like When the Storm Comes Down which was notorious for having a bad mix. I'd like to hear it. | |

| I am sorry but I do not see the point in re-recording the album, its fine the way it is, and it just seems pointless to me, especially if you are asking fans to help pony up for this project | |

Yeah, I already have the album, so I have no interest in a re-record. I'm sure it comes down to the fact that this album was on Elektra Records and the fact that the album has been out of print for awhile now, and that the band sold their lives away to be on a bigger label. Ultimately, fans see through this crap. I'll be shocked if fans give to this project. It's one thing to pay for new material... | |
