On a related note, has anyone heard of a direct marketing group known as Visalus? They sell protein shakes (relax, I'm not selling anything; I said RELATED note). They have that basic, overly enthusiastic, witless selling technique of acting like a naive gym douchebag ("pump it up with our November Shape Specials!!!"). Anyway, they have a hand gesture to represent the company...yup, it's the shocker. For whatever reason, they have no clue. Go on their Facebook and you'll see numerous smiling, gym-ready reps flashing the shocker at the camera. I guess it looks like "VI," but I'm seeing more one in the pink two in the sink kind of thing. Wait, it's the other way around...

Dude. Me lighten up? It was just a passive statement. And keep in mind that, where I come from, you only see the shocker from absolute douchebags who listen to a mix of Toby Keith and Drake while drunk driving down our main drag. It's all about geographical context. Maybe you don't deal with that where you're from.

A symbol only means what the user wants it to mean. The swaztika (sp?) is a good example of a symbol that means different things in different situations.

That's exactly how I feel. You want to do the horns? Fine with me. I'm not judging anyone if they do it or not. I just don't think it's right for me. I don't believe in wearing crosses either, especially crucifixes. After all, Jesus said "It is finished". Crucifixes put Jesus back on the cross to be tortured all over again.
To me, theses issues are secondary to the fact that it's too darn mainstream.
