| Most people would, that's why not being a fan is unorthodox to the point where people will blankly look at you in abject horror. The "neeeeeed" to like that band is obnoxious. | |

| I've never considered myself to be much more than a "casual Rush fan" (I own the Chronicles best-of and two or three albums, but that's all)... but I've also been told that "casual Rush fan" is a bit of an oxymoron. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| And Justice For All Among The Living Screaming for Vengence Countdown to Extinction Reign in Blood Powerslave The entire KISS catalogue............are not terrible records, but they are massively over rated.
Motorhead are a bit too one dimensional and after nearly 40 years, a lot of what they do doesn't do much for me.
There were many NWOBHM bands that were better than Saxon.

| I LOVE Metallica - And Justice For All, and Living Sacrifice - Nonexistent (and most of the LS albums afterward, for that matter).
While I love Weapons, I think Deliverance's S/T is more memorable.
Megadeth's Holy Wars is the best metal song ever written (It's got everything!)
The Showdown is a great band.

| Here's a shocker! I was a heavy metal fan in the 1970s in America. (Obviously long before "real heavy metal" even existed.)
Here's a big one! GASP!!! I am a heavy metal fan and I am allowed to enjoy other music outside of heavy metal.
I believe that bands like Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, Kiss, UFO, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, Riot, Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Van Halen, etc. were commonly known as heavy metal bands in the 1970's. These bands, along with Judas Priest and Black Sabbath, helped define the sound and frame the genre. Judas Priest and Black Sabbath were not the only heavy metal bands that existed before 1980.
Heavy metal and hard rock were synonymous terms in the 1970's and into the 1980s.
Though he's not a metal artist and was obviously a talented guitarist, I've always felt that Stevie Ray Vaughn is overrated.
Bands like Deliverance, Vengeance Rising, Sacred Warrior, Believer, Recon, Saint, Bloodgood, and many other "Christian" metal bands are just as good, and sometimes even better than their "secular" counterparts.
I don't care how popular a band is or how many records they have sold. If I like a band and listen to their music, I am a fan. I like bands like TT Quick and Dirty Looks as much as, and sometimes moreso than some of the "big bands".
Slayer's first two albums were their best. "Reign in Blood" is overrated. (Yes, I know, blasphemy!)
Iron Maiden's debut and "Killers" are the best albums they ever recorded.
I don't care what you label them, I like Sevendust. (So go ahead and revoke my metalhead card!)
I like Anthrax's rap songs and collaborations, "I'm the Man", "Lethal" and "Bring the Noise".
A Christian can enjoy heavy metal!
Def Leppard haven't released a great album since "On Through the Night".
Some of the modern neo-thrash bands (Fueled by Fire, Vektor, Havok, Bonded by Blood, Vindicator, etc.) are as good as the old-school thrash bands. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

Saxon were the least metal....some people's children, I tell you what! Seriously! Compared to Angel Witch? Diamond Head? Samson? Tokyo Blade? Jaguar? Witchfinder General? I'm not saying that they're not metal, but a little less aggressive than many other bands. Okay, Def Leppard and Tygers came to mind, so maybe I'm wrong. But at least I made someone laugh today .

| I too like genres outside of metal and rock, I also enjoy pop, rap/hip-hop, techno/trance, R&B. Not the biggest fan of Reign In Blood either, I also find Aerosmith to be rather overrated.
Also a Sevendust fan, I like other modern rock bands like Nickelback, Halestorm, Jet Black Stare, Buckcherry, Rev Theory, Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, Black Stone Cherry, Saliva, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, American Hi-Fi, Sum 41, Powerman 5000, Papa Roach, Killswitch Engage, Coal Chamber, Monster Magnet, Crazy Town, Fear Factory, Drowning Pool, Corn, Mudvayne, P.O.D., Slipknot, Hinder, etc.

Okay, Def Leppard and Tygers came to mind, so maybe I'm wrong. But at least I made someone laugh today . OK, I'll agree with that. NWOBHM definitely ran the gamut of heavy metal. Saxon were as heavy as Tokyo Blade, Samson, Blitzkrieg, and many other bands. They were heavier than bands like Heavy Pettin, Def Leppard and Tygers of Pan Tang. They were no where near as heavy or aggressive as bands like Raven and Venom. However, they all fall under the same umbrella of NWOBHM. I have argued with some people who try to say that Saxon are "just hard rock" or are "classic rock". The history revisionism within heavy metal is a pet peeve of mine. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

Both Load and Reload are great albums.
The Elder is one of Kiss' best albums. _________________

| I think some of Jorn's covers of Dio are better then the originals.
I enjoy Overkill since Killbox on more then the early stuff.
Same with Sodom, from Code Red on they have slayed.

I can't listen to Opeth for too long there songs are just to long for me I guess.
I don't like Rush.
I like pretty much every Sodom record.
I can't stand Melodic Death Metal.

I fixed it for you. Not that there is a single thing wrong with the other bands at all, but come on, 'Scantropolis'?
