| If the title isn't self explanatory enough, what opinions pertaining to metal do you have that are a bit out of the ordinary?
Like for example, I'm of the opinion that Riot's best album isn't Fire Down Under or Thundersteel, but Rock City. I also dig both Blaze era Maiden albums just as much as Fear of the Dark or No Prayer (I really enjoy both of those albums as well). I don't think Paradise Lost by Cirith Ungol is a pile of shit; I actually like it just as much as their first 3. My favorite Loudness album is Soldier of Fortune. I enjoy a well executed breakdown, almost as much as a ripping guitar solo. It's more about context than anything else.

| I like Neon Cross better than Barren Cross !
blast beats are killing drumming !
I agree with Eddie Trunk that UFO (Schenker era) is/was one of the best bands ever !
Megadeth is the better of The Big Four by FAR !
Pantera wrote better songs when Terry Glaze was the singer ! Although there are some great songs on both "Power Metal" and "Cowboys From Hell"

I'll go with that. As I've said here before I think Budgie was a similar but better band than Rush as far as hard rock songs goes. I wish I had known about Budgie when I was wasting all those hours on the 6 or 7 Rush songs that I actually liked. Another inevitable one when this subject comes up, I always took Celtic Frost's Cold Lake as humor and I think it's one of the most fun and entertaining albums ever made. On balance I enjoyed the Tony Martin era more than the Dio era. Heaven and Hell was a great album but the rest of it MEH.

| As a whole I prefer Derrick Green fronted Sepultura to anything prior.
I think Leave Scars blows away both Darkness Descends and Time Does Not Heal
I also think Bonded By Blood pales in comparison to the two albums that follow
And finally, Ram it Down is my favorite 80's Priest album!

| Motley Crue's best album was the eponymous reboot with John Corabi.
Seventh Son is one of Maiden's worst albums.
Joe Satriani is a limited, though creative, guitarist.
Warrant, White Lion, Winger, Bullet Boys, Steelheart, Black n Blue: nowhere near as derivative as everyone lets on; more creativity than most bands (ex Poison).
Poison is a pop band. No metal, no rock. They are pop.
1984 was the worst Roth-era album.
Twisted Sister gets more respect than they deserve.
Lay it Down is the quintessential 80's rock song.
Born Again was just as good as the Dio years.
I struggle enjoying anything modern metal that has downtuned guitars. This includes Nevermore.
Maiden's Intruders is a kickass song and fits perfectly Beast.
As much as I love Dream Theater, they are so much more a tribute band than prog, and there are much better prog bands out there.
Rock autobiographies are a waste of time since they are a) poorly written, and b) not trustworthy/overly biased when it comes to band disputes (ex: Sammy Hagar). There may be exceptions.
F*ck the Big 4. There is no Big 4. There is a Big 10, or something like that.
Zaak Wylde is an overrated guitarist, better as a songwriter. He uses too much wah, and has a tiny bag of tricks. He is a badass, though.
Randy Rhodes is a better guitarist than Eddie VH. But Ed is still my hero.
Last but not least: Holland was Priest's best drummer.

| FW's Inside out is a great record.
Painkiller is not that good.
Somewhere in Time and from Brave New World onward are the best Maiden eras/albums.
Metallica's favorite album is Load.
I don't like Rush.
Last 3 In Flames albums are great deathcore(?)/melodic metalcore(?)/whatever-core.
Pink Floyd's Gilmour era is better than Waters' minus WYWH
Black Sabbath with Ozzy and Ozzy in general (excluding Bark and Ultimate Sin) are meh.
WASP has better albums than debut.
Fates Warning is the best band in the world.

Judas Priest's Jugulator is actually a pretty damn great album.

| "Among the living" is one of the weakest anthrax albums with belladonna.
"Cryptic writings" is one of megadeth's best albums.
I like "south if heaven," "seasons in the abyss," and "diablos in musica" better than "reign in blood."
I like Luke Easter's vocals.

| Concept albums are usually awful.
I don't like Rush (I've tried, but they're just not for me.)
Metal bands and symphonies are awful. Just stop it already.
I hate acoustic versions of Metal songs. No thanks hippy.
I like Judas Priest's cover of Johnny B. Goode.
The Corabi Crue is a great album.
Operation Mindcrime is overrated.
Show No Mercy is the best thing Slayer ever did. (That includes Reign In Blood)
Pantera was great. It's trendy now to hate them for various reasons, but those reason are usually nonsense. This was the one band that was actually playing Metal and saying they were Metal throughout the 90s. People forget that they were so big that even the mighty Slayer opened for them.
I like all of those early to mid-90s thrash "sellout" albums that tried to ape either the Black Album or Pantera.
Dio stopped being interesting with Dehumanizer. His albums became increasingly slow and boring. The only bright spot was Killing The Dragon, which picked up the tempo a bit.

| I don't get the facination with King's X, Savatage and Thin Lizzy. They're ok, but I don't understand what makes them so enchanting to others 'round these parts. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | This is probably not unorthodox in principle, but more that I just don't ever see it being addressed.....
The Metal crowd is becoming like the classic rock crowd. The Metal crowd, who are born from supporting the underground, has reverted to supporting and discussing only groups who have already earned huge near-mainstream U.S. recognition. Metallica or Maiden can make the worst record in the world, and fans will discuss it and give it more lenience than they would a struggling underground band who put something out that just destroys it. The Metal crowd, in general, seems to be more embarrassed by the tag and more willing to lend themselves to something which is just edgy enough, stuff that is "heard of" but still generally not cared about by the very top of the mainstream. You've got older fans who flat out refuse anything they didn't grow up with, even if it came out in the same era but was overlooked, and you've got younger fans who find it to be very counterculture and hip to support all the bands everybody already acknowledges as "classic", but if it's something unknown, it ceases to be hip.
All of this is NOT METAL.

| Black Sabbath with Ozzy is a waste of good music.
Sammy Hagar is the only real vocalist Van Halen ever had. DLR is a showman, not a singer.
Painkiller is a laughingly boring album.
Jugulator minus the goofy lyrics is a fine album.
Iron Maiden with DiAnno is a waste of good music.
The last 2 Accept records blow. Hard.
King's X hasn't made a good album since Tape Head.
Megadeth is the only band of the "Big 4" that has made listenable music since 1991.
Digital recording has killed the soul of metal.
Dimebag is the most overrated guitarist in history.....Zakk Wylde is nipping at his corpse-rotten heels though.
The best metal has always come from Germany.
