Watched Toy Story 2 with the kids - it was on Disney Channel, but I got tired of commercials and popped in the blu-ray. Amazing how much BETTER the Blu-Ray looks over the HD broadcast.. the sound was a million times better too (BTW - I quickly noticed how much even the 5.1 soundtrack is compressed for broadcast! As bad as a Rick Rubin produced CD!)

I can't tell those movies apart. Really the only one that sticks out to me is Azkaban.

I gotta say that I enjoyed the Harry Potter movies much more than I originally thought I would. The only ones I had a problem with were the 2nd film and the 4th film, I felt they were lesser than the others but still not bad films overall. Azkaban and Half-Blood Prince were probably my favorites. I plan on finishing the series tomorrow.

Would agree that 2 and 4 are the weakest!

They Live
Hasn't held up as well as I remember from the last time I watched it. But still entertaining enough. Always felt it was too short. The stuff with Roddy Piper doing his wrestling character with the insults and quips is still painful as ever. The bubble gum line is the lone exception to that.

The man or the character? You do know it's fictional right?

"Putting out the fire with gasoline" aka The Cardinals bullpen. After 39 consecutive shutout innings by the starters, the pen blew a 3-0 lead and STL lost to Milwaukee 4-3 in 10 innings.

Cold Comfort Farm (1996)
Utterly charming British film starring Kate Beckinsale as Flora who moves in with her eccentric relatives at "Cold Comfort Farm" and slowly but surely changes everyone and everything for the better.

Went out to the drive-in movie and caught:
and
Loved both! I almost saw Scary Movie V and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, but those two, while probably mindless fun for a person like me, is best saved for bargain theaters (which they will be playing at pretty soon) or Redbox. I'm glad I decided to see those two. though I wasn't sure I was really wanting to see The Croods, it turned out to be very good, but of course DreamWorks hasn't let me down yet. I definatly wanted to see Oz and it turned out to be as good as I thought it would. I hope they continue and re-make The Wizard Of Oz seeing as I hated the original and would love a version I could actually enjoy.

I'm a fan of Nolan's films (The Prestige being my favorite) but I have to admit that Inception left me cold overall. I give it total props for being inventive and beautifully shot, but I don't know about all the gunplay in dream land...I was hoping for something a little more ethereal that didn't rely quite so heavily on action scenes.

Watched the first two episodes of A&E's "Bates Motel" last night via On Demand - it's off to a very promising start. Looks like Norman and his Mom aren't the only nut jobs in their newly adopted home town. Vera Farmiga (sp?) is great as Mrs. Bates. She's got this totally awesome crazy MILF thing goin' on.
I need to watch a few more episodes to get caught up but this one looks like a keeper.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. It seems our shared opinion is of the minority according to the internet. The guns were my main problem; nowhere is it explained how the projections can be militant or trained to be such, and it all seemed so obligatory and redundant. It would've been a better movie without all the Bond-cum-Matrix action. The movie also required a hefty amount of suspending one's disbelief while at the same time demanding full attention to the cerebral elements. The combination makes for a tough pill to swallow, and I'm more fond of the latter.
Can't deny, though, it was smart as beans and made for some fascinating deliberation.
