Late, but I feel like more metal dudes, at least the outspoken ones, are conservative. That's the vibe I get anyway.

Lots of hate for Cryptic Writings and Risk. I honestly thought that both records had great moments. Trust is a brilliant song!

Anybody who had to deal with heroin addictuion, wife, kids, family, and dealing with life as an addict and the recovery/deliverance process afterwards understands Cryptic Writings.
Those who havn't can only listen as a fan of either music or thet particular band.

That's exactly what it was. Hell, they even re-recorded two old demo songs and tacked'em onto the record just so they could finish the album quicker and get the hell out of Dodge faster.
I enjoyed about half of Th1rt3en myself but thought it was a let down after Endgame. I'm hoping that the new one will be better since Dave seems to be in a better headspace at the moment...
i dont know. I thought it was a welcome change from the 'just play as heavy as we can regardless of melody' Endgame.

IMHDO
"Endgame" would of ripped if the drumming had some dynamics to it. There are tons of places in the arrangements where "stuff" could of been done. Drover is a good lil "digi-drummer", can emulate/copy alot of others playing to an extent. But falls flat on his face when it comes to tossing a lil personality, originality, and/or variety to his playing.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought that. I tend to think Endgame is too overrated around here. Of course I also liked United Abominations and that one is quite underrated around here.

Cryptic Writings is a solid Megadeth album, but Risk is definitely weak. A couple of decent songs, and a lot of turds.
"Insomnia" is really good, though; and "The Doctor Is Calling" is a great one, easily the best on the album. Sounds like a cover of a long lost Danzig tune.

I didnt mind World Needs a Hero as much as most people. I guess people were expecting more after the disapointment of Risk, but songs like Disconnect, 1000 Times Goodbye, and especially Dread and the Fugitive Mind are all excellent 'deth tunes.

I've always said that World Needs A Hero is about 50% cool and 50% filler. If it had been an EP without "When" (blatant Diamond Head theft, Dave should be ashamed of himself!), "1000 Times Goodbye," "Promises" and "Losing My Senses" I probably would like it a lot more. Those tracks drag down the strong stuff.

I've been on a real Megadeth bender, this last fortnight. Finally bought Th1rt3en to complete my Megadeth collection. I'm really enjoying this one. Tracks are catchy but solid. Good lead guitar work. Great that 'Junior' is back behind the bass. I don't mind that they re-released new versions of Millennium of the Blind and New World Order, as these new versions do bring something a little different to the table. Was glad to have Black Swan included -as it wasn't on my copy of United Abominations. I've listened to TWNAH and Cryptic Writings in recent days, and I'm rediscovering some good stuff on these albums. I still think that Risk should have been released as a separate project and not under the Megadeth moniker. Looking forward to Super Collider.

Cryptic writings? The guy is a grade A lunatic. He was on some religious show demonstrating the evils of the Tritone. He is one of those nutters now, from those Christian far right conspiracy radicals who throw up tons of documentaries about Satan in heavy metal, and in Hollywood, and in your breakfast cereal. Hang on, I'll find the clip. Found it - he's just after Slayer at the start somewhere ranting to some other Far Right Religious Nut about Satan being so seductive and how he prays now before going on stage, and the tritone is evil - how now he's found God he can reflect about his previous devil worship and casting spells. Like f**k off, Dave. Twat.
He gives people who believe in God a bad name IMO.
Oh, according to Dave, Obama staged the recent school shooting.

I don't agree with everything he says, but where is the point in this country where if someone says a tag word such as... I don't know... Christianity...... people actually take responsibility for their own unbiased education on the subject instead of glancing up from their junk at what someone else is doing and then whining over it? I mean, YEAH. There are all kinds of people out there giving _________ a bad name, but last I checked the adults in this world weren't wide-eyed children who believe in Santa if you throw them a letter from the North Pole. Use your brains, everybody. People who are being exposed to whatever behavior in the guise of whatever belief have a responsibility to discern what it is and what it isn't, otherwise they are being as bad as the other party and they have zero right to criticize.
Just some random thoughts. Not coming down on you or the post. It's just like, as much as we want to blame people who are being misleading, it's about time we crack down on people who are content with being misled. Stop being a second-hand, third-hand information kind of society and get yourselves some damned objectivity from the closest source you can muster. If you fail to do that, you're a problem, period.

I think you missed the spot where I said "Not coming down on you or the post." You might want to recheck that a few dozen times so it stops being garbled. My point is people need to get off their asses and stop letting celebrities/preachers/whoever do all of their thinking for them.

But not in this particular forum. If stuff like that absolutely has to be discussed on a music board then the "Unsound Mind" section is the place to do it. In this forum it will be deleted.
FYI.
