| So I've listened to the album all the way through, twice now and I have to say I like it.
I stand by my assessment above in that it doesn't sound like any other megadeth record at all, not to my ears anyway. I think that's kinda why I like it. Don't get me wrong I'm a huge megadeth fan and apart from risk have enjoyed every album these guys have done, some a lot more than others but still I've found something I've liked in almost every release. These guys could have chucked out 13 part 2 and I would have lapped it up.
At first I loved kingmaker. Much better than the released version I listened to on YouTube a week or so back. Got a nice grove to it and I kept thinking this is gonna sound cracking live. After that from track 2 onwards I was kinda knocked back as nothing sounds identifiably megadeth, apart from Daves vocals of course. With each remaining track I kept hearing bits and pieces that sounded great, the odd great solo here, the odd nice riff here but overall I can honestly say I didn't know what to think when I got to the end as I hadn't expected to hear what I heard.
Second listen was much better as I was more prepared I stared to really get into the songs.
I think this album will be a definite grower. What I mean is I like it and would give it a solid 7/10 but its got that "I must listen to it again" feeling once I get to the end which my favourite albums always tend to do for me.
Like I said above this is definitely a far more trad metal album with a really cool hard rock grove and vibe to the main riffs with a few odd thrashy moments.

| I wonder how much of this album wasn't even written by Dave. | |

| Picked the extended edition up at Best Buy today. Will comment after I've had a chance to listen. The 3-D cover is all shiny and stuff. | |

According to the liner notes, all but the Thin Lizzy cover was at least co-written by Dave, along with other band members, and he gets sole writing credit on a handful of tracks.

I'm not sure as I haven't listened to it yet. The main reason I wanted the bonus tracks was because I'm a fanboy. The extended edition was I think only a couple bucks more.

| Bought it today - listened to it all the way through once. Some songs grabbed me right away. More of a Youthanasia vibe to me. Will have to listen again and give a better opinion. | |

| After one listen, I'm shocked. I really like it! In fact, right now I'd say it's the best since Youthanasia.
And Wayne is right, it's got its own unique sound. Dave even tries new things with his vocals. Color me impressed.

According to the liner notes, all but the Thin Lizzy cover was at least co-written by Dave, along with other band members, and he gets sole writing credit on a handful of tracks. He has sole writing credit on eight tracks, nine if you count the one song he shares lyrical co-writes on. Of the other tracks, the only song that he isn't listed first on is "Built for War." So this is mainly a Mustaine record.

| Wasn't able to pick up the CD today like I'd hoped, but I did give it a spin on Spotify. Sounds OK to me. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

As someone mentioned, Best Buy has an exclusive edition with three bonus tracks, two studio and one live. Also a holographic cover.

| I'm still not sure if I´ll be getting this one. I love Megadeth, but never picked up 13. My favorite track off of the last one was "Black Swan" and it had already been released. | |

| I got it earlier today. I must say I am pleasantly surprised by how much I like it on the first spin. I think it's an improvement on 13 in over all quality, and much more colorful than anything since the system has failed. My early favorites are kingmaker, burn!, dancing in the rain, and the cover of cold sweat. " STONE COLD SOBER AND STONE COLD SWEAT, RUNNIN' DOWN THE BACK OF MY NECK" Friggin catchy and heavy. | |

Friggin catchy and heavy. The cover is okay, the Thin Lizzy version is much better. |

| Of course it is, thin Lizzy is one of my all-time favorite bands, nobody is gonna do what Phil does better than Phil. How many covers really surpass the originals? Not many.
That being said I really enjoy this one. It's always fun for me to hear others takes on cool songs. Especially one of my favorite bands covering another one of my favorite bands. It's just cool.

| Listened to it a few times and I like it. My initial impressions is that the album is better than 13. MegaDave seemed to take a page out of the Van Halen playbook and released the weakest track on the album as the first single. The production is fine and my only issue is the mix - guitars should be higher and Dave should be lower. Hopefully Dave kicks Johnny K to the curb before the next album. I really like the Thin Lizzy cover. I just got the basic version. | |

| Anyone who got this at Best Buy - were there a lot of copies of the exclusive version? I can't make it there till the weekend and would just order online if it is going to be hard to find.
Have intentionally stayed away from hearing any of it in anticipation of getting it.

Weird, I just went to Spotify to listen to the album, and the only thing I saw listed was "Super Collider Commentary". Clicked on it and it is just Dave describing what the tracks are about. I didn't see the regular album.

When I logged onto Spotify last night, it came right up in a list of "New Music You Might Be Interested In," along with the new Anvil. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Strange, I just checked again in case I just missed it, and it is definitely not listed under Megadeth on my Spotify. I'm listening on my phone, but it's a full paid version...so not sure if that is any different. I don't see anywhere on the app version to go to a "newly released" page or anything. Weird.
