New Megadeth in June of '13

ill wait till i get a copy to listen.

I'm pretty much the biggest MEGADETH fan in the world and I don't think I can motivated to pay full price for this one.

Just heard "The Blackest Crow," the song with the banjo, and it's pretty dreadful. =(

Yep.... I'm getting a little worried that the album will suck. I loved the past three albums, I guess it's high time that MegaDave released a dud.....

7 tracks in and I like it enough. I can see a lot of folks being upset with it because it's not balls-out thrash at all. But it doesn't "suck" from what I am hearing in my headphones.

Not really thrash, more like power metal ala Metal Church and how they wander into thrasier moments. Reminds me a lot of Youthanasia at times. Kingmaker is the standout but Don't Turn Your Back and Cold Sweat are also great. And I don't mind the banjo, it's not overwhelming.

And I didn't illegally dl it, I will buy it but I have listened.

I don't care if its thrash, so long as its quality (i.e. youthanasia and cryptic writings).

Yeah, i'd put it more in that class.

God, the production is so bad. I'd like Built For War alot better if there were some balls in it. It sounds like he had the engineer put the vocals and guitar way up and screw everyone else.

Bad vocals, bad production. Won't be buying this album either.

I don't need thrash; I need good. After all, Youthanasia is my favorite from them. Not thrash at all.

Mine's on it's way and should be here tomorrow. I'm looking forward to hearing it (having avoided all samples but the title track and Kingmaker). And I could care less about the online reviews. I'll judge it by my own merits.

Ugh. The banjo is my 3rd mosted hated instrument, right behind flutes and bagpipes. They have no place in metal.

*sigh*. I want this album to be good, thrash or not. Just good, dammit.

As someone who just recently got around to Thirteen, I have to say that album has gotten me excited for this new one. Even if they are going with a Youthanasia vibe I'm cool with that. This one has jumped up the want list to possible day one purchase. Any word on special or deluxe editions of it?

We'll have to wait and see. If I can escape from work tomorrow for a half-hour, I'd like to pick it up.

I'm listening to it now, blaring out at a neighbour unfriendly volume in my kitchen lol.

Only on track 5 but so far so good.

Track 1 kingmaker is the standout so far. Not a fan of super collider track 2. It's ok but a tad forgettable. Track 3 and 4, burn and built for war both rocked pretty hard. Track 5 is sounding a tad meh!

Can't really describe the sound to be honest as so far it doesn't sound like any other megadeth record to me. Daves vocals sound good to me and overall it seems to have a fair bit of variety sounding like a trad metal album with a hard rock groove with the odd thrashy moment and some great lead work from broderick.

Going to see them live this Thursday and need to get a few listens in before I hear some of it live but I can see me really liking this.

Listening to the Super Collider single on Spotify as I type this.

Sucks.

I could care less about Megadeth now anyway, so it's no loss to me. I did like the one song (the single, I guess) from Thirteen that I heard.

Based SOLELY on the song Super Collider, it sounds to me like what if Megadeth hired a hitmaker to write them a new record. Like, what if Aldo Nova wrote a song for them, or something. And then the song still failed to be a hit, because it's Megadeth, and outside of a small niche market, no one cares about them any more. They're just like, "Oh, it's that dude that says weird things about Obama and the government. He's in a band?"

Yeah that's not how the whole album is.

I think Wayne is spot on.
