Rubin suggested Ginger Baker for the same reason I posted awhile back, he's from the same jazz background that Bill Ward is from, except Baker actually performed as a jazz drummer for nearly a decade prior to joining Cream.
Baker never would have done it anyway, his dislike of metal is well documented.

Confirmed song titles are: Age of Reason, End of the Beginning & God Is Dead. AoR and EotB are both over 8 minutes in length.

I also thought it was funny that Ozzy described the new album as "Satanic Blues".

How's the story go
Oh yeah, somebody telling Ginger that Cream gave birth to heavy metal and Ginger saying something like we should have had an abortion.
Hopefully because I typed "abortion", Shawn doesn't lock the thread

I'm really looking forward to this album. A big fan of the Ozzy era. A bit sad that it isn't the full original band. Listening to "Ozzy's Boneyard" and they air segments on Black Sabbath, the new album and post interviews. I've been spinning the disks more frequently lately in anticipation. So much has happened since the split, so how it's going to sound has really got me on pins and needles.

It worries me that Iommi said Rubin wants it to sound "raw." In my opinion, Sabbath shouldn't sound raw, they should sound heavy as hell, with a huge wall of sound.

This! I cringed when I heard Rubin was doing this. I want it to be great but I really doubt that it will be.

To me "raw" just means "not overly polished", more of a live-in-the-studio vibe which I think fits Sabbath perfectly.

it leads me to think of what he just did to ZZ Top.

I've been dreading Rubin's involvement since it was first announced, I haven't heard a decent sounding album he's produced in years and years. I'm just hoping it is tolerable.

To you, not to Rubin. Death Magnetic is Rubin's raw.

Its strange because some artist such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica and Slayer (just name three) swear by him, others like AC/DC and Black Crowes thought he was worthless, especially the AC/DC guys, for years he said he wanted to work with them, when they finally did, they still gave him a production credit but they hired Mike Frasher to produce the album. They never trashed him in public ( not AC/DC's style) expect Malcolm Young's comment that he did nothing for them.

Awesome. I would love to have seen either that tour (Sabotage) or the 1974 jaunt for Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. The curse of being born too late.

I'm actually a little shocked they would post this without first trying to edit out or digitally blur Bill's image. Seems like a dickish thing someone would attempt. I won't mention any names, but it rhymes with "shar-roon blas-bourne"

Thanks to an older sister (the babysitter) and her boyfriend, I got to tag along to The California Jam with them in 1974.

You're forgetting that it was BILL'S MANAGEMENT that asked the Sabbath camp to remove Bill from the photos on their website...
